BFG T/A KO vs Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

I just put a set of BFG KO2's on my 4runner. They sound like a passenger tire, meaning they're dead quiet. I assume they'll get a bit more noisy as they age and the rubber hardens, but right now I couldn't be more pleased. I've heard considerably more noise out of a standard all-season tire.

I totally agree with you. They are super quiet. Just got mine and I won't go back to the goodyear wranglers. Ko2s have better traction.

I work for discount .. Honeslt if you want a really good aggresive tire the bfg ko2 is the tire i would go for. More great handling because of the sidewall protection and while it give it a great cornering stability.. As for pavement honestly it would have more impact more than gdy. Bt gdy does have a better edge on water n mudding because the space of the blocks and sipes to give a better push

Just bought my 2016 MGM TE and my first mod is going to be tires. I only ever buy tires at Discount Tire.

Since my tires are brand new (~250 miles) they are going to work with Bridgestone to get me around $75-$85 a tire. Depending on what they get me, the Store Manager told me he could get me into BFG KO2s 275/70/17 for around $650 OTD. Does that sound good considering I'm "trading" in my old tires?

Also, this is without Tire Certificates. I've ALWAYS bought them for my vehicles over the years (only used 1 time). Anyone actually getting them these days?

Sound pretty good to me. I paid $1100 OTD for my KO2's from Discount Tire a month ago, so that works out to $450 trade-in value, which is about $110/tire trade in on your old ones.

I've had both and I'll never go back to a BFG mostly due to the wet weather performance especially at higher speeds where the Duratracs resist hydroplaning much better then the KOs.
If you off road a lot it is hard to beat the BFGs sidewall strength but even with my C load rated GYs I never had an issue over the last 7 years with them and their snow traction has been great to me.

I just think that old tread pattern on the BFGs needs an update and be more on-road friendly and be able to evacuate water and snow from them better than the current design allows.

I'll be getting my 2nd set of Duratracs by the end of the year.

Running Duratracs for a few months now. Absolutely love them. A tad bit of of noise on the highway but nothing at all bothersome. Made my truck handle a bit better than the stock tires. Looking forward to getting them off road and into some snow this winter.

Are you using the light truck version with the C1 load rating?

Absolutely buy certs every time. Have 3 vehicles, 4Runner has had 2 cert duratrac's (nails). Cavalier has had 3 certs, different objects. Certs are well worth it for me.
