2007 Sport with a 3/2 spacer level kit. Currently have Michelin 265/70/17 tires on there now. Looking at the 275/70/17 BFG TKO2 tires or the 265/70/17 GoodYear Duratracs for my next tire. Anyone have any suggestions? Ive looked online and the reviews are pretty much 50/50. I'm 90% highway driver but also do some offroading when hunting season comes around. I will be using the stock FJ rims! I'm leaning towards the BFG TKO2's just because they're a little bigger.

I am having this same debating about my 3rd Gen. The one thing steering me away from the Duratracs is the 2-ply sidewall. The price difference between the KO2's and Duratracs isn't much so I am thinking of going with the KO2's.
I was leaning that way too. Just don't know if I'm going to have to do any trimming. The 265/70's are really close to the mud flaps so those will probably have to come off.

I would go with the KO2's. They will have a much quieter, smoother ride over the life of the tires plus they are a little taller. I run the KO2's on my 4th gen and so far I've been really impressed with their grip on just about every surface. They are also quieter than the KO's on my 5th gen.
How are they in the rain?? I've heard this is week spot for them. Are you running the 275s?

I love the new BFG A/T KO2's. Ive had them in every weather condition and they are so much better than the old version. The ride on the street is unbelievable and quiet. Great in the rain, wet 12" of snow, and awesome in the desert southwest sand silt and rocks. A worthwhile purchase.
Did you have to do any trimming at all?
I had the DT for about 2 weeks. They could not get a vibration to go away though, balanced them 4 times (yes using the correct adapter and road force), swapped them out with another set, still no good. I have a ton of friends and co workers all who have the DT and really like them. Not sure what was up with them on my truck. I now swapped them out with the Ko2's and truck rides smoother as ever. Have about 1500 miles of summer driving so far, a little off road. Great tire so far. I did like the look of the DT better though.

I have 255/75-R17 Duratracs and I love them.
That being said, if the KO2's came in that size I probably would have gone with them. I researched tires last Fall before I went with the Duratracs and came to my own conclusion that the order is KO2 > Duratracs > KO. I also paid about $400 less for the Duratracs, so that was another factor.

I have to say I'm impressed with them in the rain. Just this last week I tried to take my city family camping for a night. Well it started pouring rain and we had to pack up and leave. It was a pretty crappy week, so by this time I was pretty ticked off and drove down a mountain pass pulling my camper in some heavy rain, mud covered in parts of the road, and I was passing people. To be honest I was driving like an A hole. Never once did I feel a slip.

I have Bilstein 5100s all around and the front are on the 2.5" setting.

I did have to do a little trimming on the front fenders behind the driving light and at just about full lock. As far as both tires, I would say at this point based on all the replies,that both tires seem pretty evenly matched. Now it's up to you to pick the tire you want. I chose the tire I felt fit my needs and I don't regret it. I quit using the old model bfg because it was too hard and had poor on road grip.

Are any of you running the KO2's in E load range? I'm wondering how they compare to the load range D in terms of gas mileage and ride quality.

I am! They are heavy as heck. I lost very little mileage in switching to the KO2"s, but I also went up in size. The biggest thing is air pressures. Im finding that 25psi works good for my type of general desert running. Im running 35 on the street and so far my tire wear is good.
