BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain TA vs Bridgestone Deuler REVO 2s AT

Hello everyone,

So I'm looking to get some new tires after my 3/2 Toytec Ultimate lift (will get a body lift later on) and have decided between the BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A & the Bridgestone Dueler REVO A/T. They're both around the same price point, so other than that, do any of you guys out there have any information/recommendations with past experience with either of these tires?

Also, what's the difference between A/T & T/A? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think A/T stands for All Terrain , then what does TA stand for?

Yes, A/T means all-terrain and is a tire industry term. T/A is a BFGoodrich brand trademark.

Both tires scored around mid-pack in Consumer Reports AT tire tests, with Revo getting the nod in hydroplane resistance, comfort, and noise. Rugged Terrain had longer tread life. They were even in the other categories: Wet and dry braking, handling, snow, ice, rolling resistance.

I can't speak for the Bridgestone but I hav had my Rugged Terrains for a few months and been very pleased with them. They are more quit than my old road tires, plus that have a nice look to them

I got over 81,000 miles on my first set of Revos. They were 265/75/16 E weight. I replaced them with 285/75/16, E weight, Revo 2s a year ago.
So, my experience is the Revos last a lot longer than All Terrain T/As and have consistant compound all the way through.

I had BF Goodrich T/As on my 1993 4-Runner and liked them for the first 25,000 miles then I wore through the soft outer compound and they became hard as rocks. The wet traction was gone and I would slide on wet pavement. About the time I was absolutley ready to get rid of the T/As I traded the 93 for my 2002 Runner.

+1 to this on BFGs losing road traction on wet roads which my currently do with 40% tread life left.

The Rugged Terrain BFG were just completely redesigned at the end of last year so there is probably not a lot of people that have actually used them yet. All the magazines that tested them liked them. They are a step below the all terrain t/a in toughness. I would think the rugged terrain and revo would be very close. Pick the one you think looks better.

I think a lot of people are getting the rugged terrain T/A an the BFG T/A KO confused. I have never ran the rugged terrains but the T/A KO's are awesome tires in almost every terrain and wear like iron.

I have ran the Bridgestone Dueler Revo2's as well and was not impressed with the off road ability. Great street tire although I saw poor mileage from mine, they wore down past the wear bars and into the corded belts in a little over 40,000 miles. But more than 50% of that driving involved towing trailers, I gave them a proper salute by burning out until they wouldn't hold air anymore.

I would love the T/A KOs and notice that quite alot of people on this site rock them as well, but they run upwards of 260 a tire and are a bit out of my price range.

I would have loved to run a tire with more meat on it, but was just being realistic with my needs. 95% of my driving is on the road but didn't want to go with another street tire. The main reasons i went with the BFG Rugged Terrain was because the BFG brand name, the reviews i had read on the RT, the 50,000 mile warranty and they have a decent rugged look. Since i have had them i have been very pleased with them.

I wasn't referring to you, just I can see people being easily confused since BFG uses T/A in almost all their tires

Does anyone have any comments on the Rugged Terrain's now that they've been out for a while? I'm interested in snow, rain & off-road capability's. I can get these installed pretty cheap at Mavis Discount tire. I had the original Revo's & they were great but looking for a little more aggressive off-road but need bad weather traction to get to work.

I'm also looking for some good tires at good price... mavis gave me a quote for $635 for a set of goodyears tracker 2. And the revolution for around $728..
I like the rugged terrain how much they giving it to you for?

Rugged Terrain - I hated every second they were on my 06 Taco. Revo's are awesome for a couple years. The rubber seemed to get hard after the 3yr mark. This happened on the BFG All-Terrain KO's I had too.

Of the two choices for the OP. Revo's for sure!

If open to other options, I'd go with Cooper A/T3's.

+1 for Cooper A/T3's!! They look great and have given me really good traction, and I think they have a 60K warranty

I've got them on my silverado and I want them on my new T4R now! Budget wise will probably have to wait though :/
