has anyone done a big 3 upgrade to a 2004 runner? im lookin to do one but i need instuctions and pictures so i can find the connection points

I'm not sure but I know for a fact its referring to your cars electrical system.
I think it's the in chasis wiring involved with the battery and alternator, battery, and your alternator. But i'm not 100% sure on this.
Systems with high power won't be good with crappy electrical systems.

the BIG 3 is a ground upgrade. you replace all the grounds between the alternator battery and i believe the starter with lower gauge wire and basically upgrade the negative part of the system. i had it done on my mazda by a friend of mine at his shop so i odnt know exact details but thats the best description i can think of. basically you do that and ground your throttle body and you could actually improve your pedal response. because of shorter grounds so this means less lag

big 3 upgrade is exchanging your engine wiring to lower gauge wiring which pretty much eliminates light dimming and just beefs up your electrical system if your using alot of power for your sound system.
its a cheap and easy (usually) upgrade for all cars with sound systems.
the wires you replace are
1. postive bat. to alternator
2.chasis to ground
3.engine to ground

IMO, if you don't have a high-powered system, don't bother doing the "big 3". By "high powered", I mean roughly over 1000w total. Maybe even higher. It would likely be a waste of time and you won't get any audio benefit from it. I have an 1160w RMS system and have no problems without doing the mods. I have an 800w RMS system in my Jeep and there are no problems either. My stock alternator lasted 180kmiles in the jeep too.
