big tires vs mph?

i am going to put 33s on with in the next few months. they guy at my local yota dealer. said he has a chevy (dumb ass) and he has 33s and he said his truck is about 8 mph off. and that with Toyota. you cant fix the difference with big tires. is that true? and how much does it put it off? and does the computer in the middle. that tells you how many miles to empty. get messed up too with big tires?

Short answer. Yes. It will make it off by 2-3 miles on everything. If you run only on what the little computer says on miles to empty, you'll need to find the gauge with the F and the E on it

Yup, mines off by 3mph on my '06 4 runner and 5-6 on my '06 Tacoma at 55, both with 33's.

The faster you go the more it is off. At 35 it will only be off maybe 1 mph, at 75 it will be off more and get worse the faster you go. When I went to 265/70/17 mine is off around 2-3 at 75 based on gps speed. Odometer will also be wrong. Also you will get less mpg and power. Best to use a gps to see what your actual speed is verses the speedometer. Just part of the fun of running bigger tires. Jeeps and GM product are easily changed with hand held aftermarket computers. Toyota is just not as popular so not as many products are available to tweak the electronics.

alright thats what i was looking for, i know where the little f and e are. but i was not sure if it messed with everything or not. how bad is it going to mess with the Odometer?

Same percentage as speedometer.
