Big yellow cable behind stereo?

hey guys,

i was hooking up an ipod cable from my stereo today and came across this big yellow wire that looked like it should probably be hooked up to something... unless it's some kind of diagnostic wire or something that i don't know about yet.

i was hoping someone might know off hand what this is, it runs down into a metal box and eventually it seems like it goes into a control type box down below (there's also an ABS box down there in front of the control type box)

thanks in advance!

thats the factory amp. if you have a aftermarket head unit, then it was just disabled. the power and speaker connectors used to plug into that and then went up to the factory headunit.

thanks!

i was hoping it was just something like that. the previous owner had a bunch of bad wiring all over the car and he had the stereo done, so i also wouldn't have been surprised if it was something important too (i've seen some shoddy soldering in there...)

i really appreciate the quick response!

I agree with what the guys said. I just unscrewed that factory amp and took it out because it's not necessary. You should have two antenna connections, only one of them will plug into an aftermarket head unit. The other one is just dangling behind the dash for me. An after market head unit should and will power your speakers.
