Bigger Tire w/o Spacers?

I'm looking at doing a 285/70/17 tire and wanted to see if anyone is running that size on a 4th gen without spacers? I know there is fending trimming involved and thats fine, I just am not sure if it will clear the UCA ok.

Any help is appreciated.

It won't clear the UCA. Most space, change rims and/or use aftermarket UCA's. I don't know if just UCA's would be enough. Just FJC rims and UCA's might do it, don't know. Read how some of the t120 guys are set-up. Lots of 285's over there.

i'm installing my lift tomorrow so money is a little tight. New wheels arent going to happen for me, so i'm going to be sticking with the stock 5 spokes that came with it. I'm just unsure as to running spacers or not. Some people have no problems with it whiles others do so im undecided

Ok guys well the lift is on and the tires will be here thursday. Every store i have called including spidertrax themselves are out of stock on the spacers until the end of the month.

So has anyone tried to fit 285/70/17's with just a lift, no spacers? I cant get the spacers and would like to put on the tires asap.

im getting ready to have a lift done on mine here in the next couple weeks. I was told that I could fit 285/70/17 on without wheel spacers. guy at the custom shop says toyota has a tab on the control arm if i remember correctly that they trim down it doesnt serve any function and the reweld it closed after allowing for larger tires to be put on without having to put wheel spacers on. well thats what im told anyways.

295/70/17 nitto terra grabbers on mine with a cornfed 3/2 setup.
no spacers in the front due to the tread making contact with the frame at the back of the fender well behind the running board with them installed. still have almost an inch of clearance on the upper control arm. full tilt there is a bit of rubbing but nothing to damage anything

spacers were used in the rear though because i had them already
