bigger tires need to recalibrate spedometer?

I'm about to get some bigger tires ( 33" ) and I was wondering if I would need to recalibrate the spedometer? My dad has a jeep and when he added bigger tires it made it off by about 5mph. Thanks.

This has come up here and at T120. There's not much to be done. Your speedo will be off but there's no magic box to correct the error for the T4R

About all you can do is take a GPS for a ride and learn a few correction factors at 30, 60 and 75 or whatever speeds.

Your speedo will indicate slower than your actual speed.

Oh, wow. With the JK jeeps you can plug in the tire size on a hand held device and it recalibrates the speedometer. Nothin like this?

Nope Given shared FJC components the T4R can be modified in many ways but not this one (yet).

Slam Jeeps all you want but you can't argue the aftermarket is superb for them.

try the superlift tru-speed calibrator. they say it works on 93-05. call em, maybe they have one for your year. i had this unit on my jeep, worked great for years.
