Bigger Tires?

What is the largest tire anyone has ever put under a stock, 3rd gen 4runner?

I do mostly soft sand and standing water, so I'm looking for both width and hight, so articulation is not a huge deal, but I don't want them rubbing everytime I turn the wheel, either.

I don't know if there is any difference in the suspension packages or not, but just in case, I have the OEM optional 265/70r16's under it right now.

Thx, Rich

the largest you should go is 265/75R16 before you'll need a suspension lift, body lift, or wheel spacers

265/75 is the biggest with the stock suspension including the '99s and mine does have the taller coils.

Clemson, did you have your speedo recalibrated? Do you have any rubbing at all? That is pretty much the exact setup I am wanting to put on my '01.

No, I didn't have it recalibrated. I think the dealership can do it, but I don't really want to pay that much to have it done. I think I also remember someone saying that going up in size actually makes the speedometer more accurate. Apparently it is a little off stock.

I don't have any rubbing, but it is pretty close. My '98 sits a little higher than your '01, so you might have a little, but I'm not positive.

No rubbing with 265/75/16 on my 01 SR5. I have duratracs if that matters. A 265/75/17 should also not rub as all the outer dimensions of the tire are the same as 265/75/16.
