Also you said 4 bikes? Do you have extensions for the one-up or do you use another rack for that?

I certainly do! I just bolt on a 1up extension. Don't usually use this configuration off road though. In those scenarios we usually split the load between two trucks if we hit dirt.

Yup the 1up rack is hands down the best bike rack out there. It grips bikes by the tire and is super stable off-road.

I used to have to use bungee chords with my old Kuat rack to keep my heavy DH from falling off the rack when going over rough stuff.

I've owned a few racks and a couple roof racks. I wish I could have all that money back and two 1ups, haha Kuat does make a fancy hitch thing to tighten down the rack and prevent sway. Better to just buy 1UP from the get-go.

Yup, definitely had the anti sway in place but the holding mechanism on the Kuat rack just cant keep a 50lb bike cinched down with all the bouncing. The 1up is no problem and I don't have to worry about the rear wheel being worn down by the cinch strap.

The 1up rack is modular in design which is awesome if you ever damage it. I was up in Tahoe and tried powering out of a hole. Ended up slamming the rack and a bike into a big tree. The trays bent out and I was able to repair everything with just replacing one mounting plate. Good stuff.

I have the Kuat Sherpa 2.0

it has plenty of clearance for anything I will encounter in my area. I tried several different racks but this one seemed to be the best for me. it is aluminum and weighs 32lbs making it easy to carry in and out of a townhouse front door. The color pretty much matches the 4runner so it looks good when I leave it on. As far as movement is concerned, I heard the first gen version of this rack had a bit of a side to side problem but they must have fixed that because this thing does not move.

Yes, I have clipped the hitch mount a couple of times. Everything off road can high center the truck not just the hitch. Lift tires and driver error are factors more than a bike rack.

I don't bike much, but someone here posted some pics of a rear hitch rack that positioned the bike vertically. Looked interesting, and pivoted the attached bike backwards to clear the rear lift gate...
