Bilstein 5100 and UCA issues

ZI finally completed my second mod on my 2015 TE. I was able to finally link up with my buddy who has a shop set up in his garage with impact tools and everything a mechanic can ask for. All I wanted to do was to get my Bilstein 5100 set up all the way around. Started with the fronts and set them to 1.75 and as we are putting the shocks back on...uh oh...the UCA is making contact with the factory spring. Now we have to take everything back off. We set them to .85 and they barely clear but now I'm nose high (it got really late so no time to put my daystar 1.5 rear spacer in.

Has anyone ever experienced any problems like this with the UCA? Everything was stock and now I'm riding dirty until Monday. Could it be because I have a trail vs sr5/limited? (38" front, 37" rear)

PS...to those here who say how easy it is to install the shocks by yourself...you're terrible terrible people lol. The fronts weren't super hard but doing it with two people and a spring compressor makes a huge difference.

Are you running oversized tires? I had mine from 1.75 then cranked up to 2.5 without any rub with my stock tires. Even when I upgraded to 285 ATP's there was no rubbing in my UCA's. Was the install done right? Spring perch in the correct orientation? Pics of the install job?

I've only had my 15 for a couple months and haven't looked, but is it possible to put the springs on upside down? It may sound stupid, but I have seen it before on various sport compact cars.

What was the heights prior to starting your lift (stock)?
Trail and SR5 should be the same height front and rear.

2" of front lift would/should make it level with the rear height.....

There should be no way that if you have the 5100's set at the .85 setting, that your front would be nose high. That means, by your measurements, you got 3" of lift on the .85 setting!

You need to check to see if all components are configured correctly.

Make sure you didn't torque the bottom shock bolt while the truck was lifted up in the air.
If so, raise the T4R off the ground, loosen the bottom shock bolts, set the T4R back on the ground and torque the bottom bolts to specs.

Does it make a different that I barely have 2000 miles, it's still a brand new truck and the springs haven't set yet?

You're right about getting that much lift. I know we put the springs on the right way, bolts should have been torqued to spec.

The only other time I have heard the spring hitting the uca is when the person put the spring perch on upside down. The shock should have came with a paper that shows the correct way to install it.

Only picture I have. Probably doesn't do anything lol. This was at 1.75. Still running stock tires.

Will this damage anything or is this okay to ride like this for a few days? Won't be able to fix until Monday...

you've got them in wrong. I have mine set to 2.5" with stock UCAs and no issues whatsoever

this is how the perch should look:

I would drive it personally. The perch wasn't designed to hold the coil in that position, would suck if it collapses on you while driving

Yeah I would not drive it, the c clip will break and the perch and spring will collapse. The spring perch is designed to go down around the c clip which keeps it from being able to come out.

Is it still salvageable at this point? Unfortunately my buddies shop isn't right around the corner and I can wait to drive it over there...just want to know I haven't created irreversible damage to the clamp, perch, shock, etc.

I've probably driven about 20-30 miles with them so far...

I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and take it to a local shop here to get it corrected. This is a real C U Next Tuesday and I should have read more...
