I installed a lift a couple weeks ago and had a mechanic put together the front springs/shocks.
When I got them back I didn't really notice it, but one of the boots was not secured and had fallen down.
Since I'm not very handy, the install was a day of work at another forum member's garage. Even if I could easily get back in there, I'm thinking I would need to disassemble the coil-over anyway.
I called Bilstein and they mentioned a "boot adapter" that holds it up. I think I've spotted it in the picture below - does anyone know? If that's it, does that mean I have no way of getting the boot back up there without disassembling the shock?
Also, I've seen a few opinions on using the boots on the rear. Is there a consensus or any thoughts on it in the front? As it sits it could get crushed by the springs I guess, but that doesn't really matter. And it is still covering where the rod enters the tube, but obviously the majority of the rod is still exposed.
