Bilstein 5100 softer ride

Great thanks for the response. Now I'm torn between setting the Bilsteins at 0.85 + adding a 2" Daystar budget boost top plate spacer (similar to t-man) or possibly going with OME replacement coil 883 or 884.

Looking for smooth driving in city 95% on city streets. Any thoughts?

I have 884s on my Bilstiens @ 0. Love it, firmer than stock but still comfortable imo. Got a little over 2.5" on my 4WD V8.

You'd likely get closer to 3" with your V6 2WD, 883" if you want a lower ride.

Sounds good. Plan is to probably purchase OME 883 and see how it works.

Any final thoughts on ride quality between Bilstein 5100 set at 1.75" lift (stock springs) and the OME coils with Bilstein at -0- lift ?

Keep us posted on the 883. Hate my ride too. I'm on taco springs set at .85 and man the ride is choppy as fook. I was on this shitty road once and man I couldn't keep up with traffic because I'm flying everywhere.

Currently running the Bilstein 5100 at -0- setting with a 1.25" top spacer for about 2.5" total lift in front. Ride still seems a little stiff to us as it's a 2wd V6 and no added weight. For city driving we want a slightly softer ride. Handles great though right now. We are willing to sacrifice some handling for a softer ride.

1. Would it be the stock springs or the Bilstein 5100 causing causing a stiffer ride?

2. Any recommendations for a slightly softer ride--different springs, different shocks?

Bilstein 5100 are an inbetween ride between OME and ICON in my opinion. I don't think your ride will improve much sticking with 5100. Since you running no lift, why not do cheap OEM schocks, they should ride good

Thanks for the reply. Actually I am running a lift in front of about 2.5". Was thinking OEM shocks as replacement but not sure how they compare to the Bilsteins since I never had new OEM shocks before purchase.

If yes - getting the lift from your springs will provide a better ride than getting a lift from your shocks.

If you already have 5100s you can probably pick up a set of OME 883/884s and 895s get the lift you want and ride a lot more comfortable

I'm installing 5100s all around tommorow. Got struts with 5gen coils and replacing rear springs with toytec 2". I currently have Daystar 1.5 front and 2.5 back. Can I leave Daystar on front and adjust strut to level or 0.85? And leave spacer off rear?

Generally speaking the consensus is you get a rougher ride when doing a spacer lift. My personal experience is that too. If you want to keep your lift and ride more comfortable you're more likely to achieve that from dumping the spacers and picking up some new (or new to you) coils

cant believe its over a year & you havnt decided what you want yet. imo, you dont offroad but want the lift with oem ride, this should solve the issue-1) top spacers dont roughen the ride like preload may, so use em for the frt lift! 2) keep your stock toyota coils or get new OEM ones, dont get OME coils! or any ones that provide lift, 3) ditch the 5100s & go back to the TOKICO shocks that it most likly came with, you should be able to pickup a whole set fairly cheap on ebay or even this forum. this will give you a ride like it came from the factory but with a leveled front end.
