For those of you who have a 2WD V6 5th gen 4runner, what notch are you guys setting the front Bilstein 5100s at for a full 3" lift upfront without using top plate spacers? 0 as the lowest, .85, 1.75 or 2.5 as the highest?... I have the Toytec 521600 coils for the front & Superflex for the rears. Thanks

Well the top setting is 2.5 so without a spacer I don't think you can go any higher. Toytec has their 1/2" spacer for $65 for the pair. That's what toytec told me to do for the equivalent of their 3" Bilstein lift. Then set the 5100 to the lowest 0 position. I have a 4th Gen so not sure how much different your set up would be. Here is a good video about the toytec with spacer lift on a 5th gen.

Since the Toytec 521600 claims 2 1/2" of lift I would go with either 0 or 0.85" on the notches to get 3" or over. Or add the spacer plates for 3". But if you aren't changing upper control arms along with the lift you may be unhappy with the alignment after you have everything done. You'll be giving up almost all of your adjustability for caster.

Edit** this is on my 4th gen**

Just this weekend I installed 5100 fronts with the 620# toytecs set at .85, as per the recommendation from toytec. Icon VS 2.0 rear with the superflex. I started with 19.25 front and 21.5 rear, hub to fender. Just measured against and now I'm at 22.5 (3.25 lift) in the front and 24.5(3in lift) in the rear.

I only have about 40 miles on the setup though, so I'm sure it will settle a little.

So even if my 5th gen 4runner is a 2WD SR5 model, I'll still get a 3" lift at the 0 & 0.85 notch without using the top plate spacers? I got JBA UCAS to install too so no worries on the alignment.

If you are asking me for a 100% hard fact guaranty I cannot give it to you. The only real difference between the 2wd and 4wd 4Runners is a transfer case and front differential (yours is lighter). 0.85 is going to give you a little more than 3", 0 will give you whatever the springs will gain you. Since you're not carrying the extra weight of the front differential and other stuff I imagine you'd be happy with whatever the standard 2 1/2" springs will gain you with the shocks set at 0. But I'm not you. I ended up with pretty much 2" all around on my Trail and that's what I was looking for. No one will be able to tell you to the 1/4" what you'll end up with. There are too many variations from one vehicle to another.

That 1/2" either way will be more in your perception than visible to anyone without a tape measure standing next to your rig anyway. It's easy to over think something like this.

I guess I'll try it at the .85 notch, hopefully it gives me the lift I wanted upfront... what I'm also trying to achieve is a level ground to frame clearance from front to rear after installing the coils.

Level ground to frame will be 0 in the front with the Superflexes in the back. Mine is pretty damn close now set at 0 with the 2" front springs and the weight of a bumper and cargo tray in the back. I'm just trying to be helpful, but if you want it to look like it's on stilts, like I said earlier, it's your ride. :wink2:
