Bilstein 5125's vs. 5100's: A recap

So, first let me thank "MIKE" at Toytec, for being so kind as to "swap out" the 5125's that they sold me with my Ultimate kit (even after I had installed and used them for about two weeks), for a pair of 5100's. I just installed them two days ago and wanted to give my impressions so that nobody makes the same mistake that I did. As I had stated in an earlier post, the 5125's were insanely "spongy" or "bouncy" at highway speeds. The ass of the truck would jump in the air over the slightest of recesses and/or bumps. It was nerve racking to drive on the freeway. Yes, they had more cushion off-road, but I was not willing to compromise the on road performance as this is my daily driver.

Now, that being said, I have spent the past two days testing the 5100's and WOW! The difference is dramatic (in a good way). Rebound and cushion is predictable and instills confidence on the highway. I took it off road several hours ago and, I'd say it was about 20% more "harsh" on rough terrain, but that is perfectly acceptable as rebound was fine. Driving my Runner is now a complete pleasure both on and off road. I cannot wait until I get to take her across the El Camino Del Real in Big Bend National Park, in October. That is all.

Thanks for the heads up man. Super glad I went with the 5100's now. Just two more days until that lift is on! I am Stoked!
