Bilstein 6112/5160 Rear Springs Question

I have a 2014 Trail with KDSS and want to lift my 4runner by 1.75-2". I want to maintain the current rake angle as well.

I will be purchasing the Bilstein 6112 Strut & Spring + Rear 5160 kit. I was wondering what you guys recommend for the rear springs. I was looking at the Eibach Sway-A-Way 1.5-inch rear spring but open to recommendations. Anything else I should know or buy or will this be all I will need to install these suspension components?

I just installed a Dobinsons lift [roughly 1" front/rear] on my Pro. I'm very pleased with the outcome and the ride. I kept stock spring rates in order to preserve the stock feel.

I went with the Wheelers T13 Springs for my 6112/5160 setup...works well for me.

When installing the bracket for the 5160 reservoir, you may find that one of the bolt holes in the chassis is not threaded...I simply used a rivnut.

Unless you're planning to add a significant amount of weight, maybe try scoring a set of stock springs from a Pro. I got a full set of takeoffs from a Pro and it's a nice, subtle OEM lift. Plenty of people pay the premium for a TRD PRO and then they immediately remove the suspension and sell it for peanuts. :shrug:

Thanks for that information. I read in another thread that the rivnut would be necessary or welding on a bracket.

Try these. They're expensive for what they are (dual 50mm aluminum clamps) but they look and work great. I personally prefer to fab things cheaper, but these were so easy I just bit. About $40 apiece.

I went with Toytec SuperFlex 2" rear coils (TT RCC2.0) paired with 5160's in the rear. For what its worth - it has a horrible jump when hitting speed bumps at anything over around 3 mph. The rear lift pairs nice (looks wise) with my front 2.5" Toyec HD springs - I would say the rake is similar to factory. But those rear springs with those rear shcoks just don't pair well IMO. I'm hoping it calms down w/ a beefy aftermarket bumper.

I ran the wheelers t12 before the t13 came out with my 6112/5160 combo.. got over 2” lift but they rode very well with these shocks

T13 should be perfect

MK_ how did you come about this set up? Or why did you choose it and where did you did it? And what was your front Coil option? Did you ever look into Dobinson?
