Bilstein HD Land Cruiser rear shocks.....?

I'm looking to go ahead and replace my rear shocks, since I'll be using 890's with a 1.5" spacer. I don't think my stock length Bilsteins will be very effective at that height.

So, I know about the Trekmasters (part number GE4095), and very well might use them. I assume they'll work fine with OME 890's.


But, I was on partsgeek.com, and figured I'd see what they had for rear shocks for the FJ80. They have two different Bilstein PN's....and I'm wondering two things:

1) Bilstein HD LC rear shocks should work pretty good with OME 890's, right?

2) If they would work well, which part number is the correct one? I can't tell why there are two different ones showing....

Bilstein 5100s would be a better choice. The HDs will beat the crap out of you
especially if you go off road or even on rough city streets. I went from HDs to the 5125s with 3.5" Downey coils in the rear and it's a much nicer ride.

Thanks for the input on the HD's. I considered the 5125's. I was just trying to save some $$. The HD's are only $66/each, plus $8.95 shipping. So less than $150.

Basically, I'd really like to find some shocks that will work well with the 890/1.5" spacer combo, and not break the bank.

quicksilvr, have you found the GE4095 in stock anywhere? I've ordered it twice from two different places now and both, are not only sold out, but contacted Tokico directly and said they have none left in the US.

Nope, I hadn't gotten that far. However, I think I'm going to order the Rough Country shocks from Wheels Offroad. Affordable, and seem to have good reviews.

Yes, mine started out as a system 1, but I had a crazy rake so I put the 890's in. The shocks seem to match pretty well with that coil. They are also beefier than the factory 4runner shock.

Ok, thanks for the info. I actually just ordered Rough Country shocks from Wheelers. But it's good to know the LC tokico's work nicely.

For on-road, and mild wheeling, the Rough Country's would probably be better because they are a higher quality shock when it comes to dampening. However, they are shorter than any of the factory size LC shocks. So if you were planning to flex the rear out a lot, then the LC shocks would be the route to go. This is just a hypothesis though....I can't be sure either way, since I have limited first hand experience.
