bilstein hd shocks ok with ome lift coils?

i am going to be aquiring some shocks from a friend bilstein hd's and i have noticed alot of sellers note they the shocks are not compatable with any lift. what are your guys thoughts any of you using lift springs with these shocks For example ome's or any other coils?

They'll work fine. They are real close to the collapsed/extended length of the Old Man Emu shocks used for lifted 4Runners.

I had those shocks on mine until I rolled it. I called around and most guys said they would be fine but you have to be careful about overextension. But with that info bulger22 posted you should be fine.

To add a bit also, the rancho rs5158's i went with were about 3/4" longer than '99 replacement rancho shocks...when putting them in and flexing I noticed that they were just right for the ome 891's extension because anymore shock extension and the coils could have easily sprung out assuming the bump stops didn't interfere.

The shocks I got were close to the same lengths too.

Hey just wanted to raise up an old thread again.

So here I am bored and looking up information about front Bilstein struts and I notice there are two different strut replacements for our 3rd gens, wich are BILF4-BE5-F332-H0 or BILF4-BE5-F332-H1 (Bilstein HD 4600 series Yellow/Blue)

So my question is: Does anybody know the difference between H0 and H1? My guess is one is a sport valve and other is not but that is just speculation and what I found on an old Ford mustang forum.

Don't really think I will get them but would be nice information to have on here I think if anybody knows for sure. Perhaps one isn't as "heavy duty" as the other? Since some claim their HD's are "too firm" maybe this is something somebody looked past before buying.


Edit: extra info found: the H0 is listed for '96-'99 4WD and the H1 is listed for '96-'02 4WD. Still don't understand why that is unless they did a production change sorta like OME has done this past year?

the differences are that one is for 4wd vehicles and one is for 2wd vehicles.which maybe the reason some people say their hd struts are to firm becuase they are using the 4wd struts on their 2wd vehicles. the rebound and compresions on the struts are different.

I left the Bilstein on the rear when i changed the springs out to the OME 890 springs, and haven't had issues yet. I haven't taken it anywhere off road to really flex things, but for street ride and towing i'll give it a thumbs up.

I have heard that the OME shocks are far softer than the Bilstein units to counteract some of the "harshness" of the higher lb springs. Of course i just heard that i don't have first hand knowledge of the OME shocks.

Im gonna put 881's with no spacer but need a strut and so far im leaning towards tokicos or eidelbocks. Just not many run either...especially eidelbock. Wanting to order this weekend. Thanks in advance.

there is only one tokico app for our 3rd gens wich are the trekmaster r/t's i am using them with 881's and top plate spacers.

Ok cool. Didn't know if maybe You went with the factory black/blue tokicos like SS uses or greens. Thanks.
