Bilstein problems

Thanks for starting this thread and informing us to stay clear from bilstein before I decide on what to use for my lift.

my father in law as a set on is 2009 tacoma trd and they have 120k miles they are in perfect condition... and trust me is truck works alot for a medium duty truck.

could there be a difference between the oem and the aftermarket one ... I just bought some for my t4r and they are right on !

well hopefully mine will hold up long enough for me to save some $$ to go with some king or fox all around. i cant complain too much on the road it rides like a dream and it has held up to me abusing it the best i can off road.

Would the OME's be a better choice for off road vs the bilsteins or should those of us that only wheel maybe every month or two save up for kings or fox etc.?

I never had any trouble with the 5100s on my Jeep, but this thread makes me feel good about ordering a set of Fox 2.0 for the Runner. Ended up being cheaper than a Toytec/Bilstein setup too!

From what I have heard the OME's are beefier and hold up much better.

Found the other rear bilstein is broke now. Haven't been offroad in months, so this one puked in normal driving conditions...

Another one bites the dust!

I just installed (May 2016) 5100s all the way around with stock springs and the left rear just blew out. Nice big puddle of oil in the garage

My T4R is a 2WD and never sees the dirt.

Anyone know if I should contact Bilstein or Wheelers?

Good luck... They don't like to warranty anything. I'll never buy another bilstein product. Both rears leaked until there was nothing left then froze up breaking the shaft. A front blew out once too.
