Bit of a dry spell?

So I'm in bit of a dry spell here.. I haven't done anything to the runner in what seems months, nor am I getting out as much as I want to with it. I know it's pretty built but I feel the rest of the upgrades require more money than the 'usual' stuff. Next thing I want to do is a front arb locker, but seems like my money is just going so quick elsewhere. There are other small details and stuff that I could do, maybe I'm just aiming my goals too big. I dunno, maybe it's the economy... Gas is killing right now.


Anyone else in a dry spell?

I've got a list of stuff I want to get done but it all keeps getting pushed back. Bumper, headlights, lift kit. So I've been doing small things here and there. I recently painted both bumpers and this weekend I'm doing my limited flares and cladding. Total cost is around 50 bucks. It wasn't part of my original plan but I like that its changing it up a bit and I'm spending some time in the runner. I only get out maybe once a month to ride and its not extreme but it holds me over. I suggest you try and find some cheap things you'd like to change even if its just a wax or rust proofing.
 
Thought i was the only one! The wifey thinks its dumb to spend money on the runner so I can only do so much at once
 
Haha didn't I just comment on your train horn thread? Sounds like you started a heated argument over there. I was almost afraid to post!

Haha yeah I guess being 18 and wanting to have fun with your rig when not offroading is not okay.
 
I should post a video of me doing doughnuts in the Walmart parking lots with my subs blasting and my lights flashing. They'd probably ban me from here.

Oh don't be a drama queen Sally... You didn't say "fun while off roading", you said "annoy and startle pedestrians". There many pedestrians where you off-road?:roadkill:

Anyway, take that as a joke, I don't want to bring that thread over here...

Ark, I hear ya too. I havn't done hardly anything in a while. I have so many parts sitting in my garage just waiting to go on, but I havn't committed the time to actually do any of it. Plus the price of gas has me on the motorcycle any day that it doesn't rain.
 
I know you said in your initial post that you're not getting as much out of the 4runner as you want to. When I added the front ARB locker, it opened up a lot for me. I would suggest doing that as soon as you can because your truck's capability will go way up. It's opened up new trails for me and harder lines on the trails I've always done.

I didn't mean it like that.. I meant that I'm not getting out on the trails as much as id like to haha. And yes I agree with you 100% that an ARB front locker is my next major upgrade.
 
go with a front aussie locker and save some cash, plus install it your self! Come on its under $300 shipped.

Dont let that brian guy talk you into expensive, nice, functional items :)
 
Right there with you. I've had my 4runner for 4 months now and all I can show for it is my 02 grill. I keep wanting to do things and put my lift on, but money is tight. I want tires, but I just don't have the $600+ for them and the alignment cost. Every time I save a little bit it gets used on something else like baby items. I spent $200 on baby stuff this last weekend and $115 the week before.

I took my running boards off recently to have some kind of change in the look. I might plasti-dip my 5 stars this weekend just to give a bit different of a look.

dude you chose a silly little baby over getting your lift, man that's love! your already a better father then i will ever be ;-) haha

Haha, yeah diapers, formula and clothes are freaking expensive. It doesn't help my girlfriend has turned her shopping addiction towards our daughter, so things get quite expensive.
 
I feel ya on money issues. I can't even afford a new set of tires. I had to get two used tires for the front @ $80 for the set. I wish I could afford a lift, spacers, DuraTracs, LED tails etc. I don't know how you guys do it!

Oh yeah, you are all engineers and astronauts and such haha. j/k

Haha, I get it now. Well either way, once you get a front locker you'll make more time for the trails!
