Black Dot in Envelope Icon

I'm a fairly new member and have only posted a couple of times, but I see a Black Dot in the Envelope Icon of my posts. What does it mean?

Do I have something set incorrectly?

I don't see it on anyone else's post(s).

The black dot appears in threads that you have participated. It's an easy way to determine if you have already posted within the thread.
