Black Friday 2011

Just curious to see if anyone went out today to get any deals. I went to Best Buy on Tuesday and there were 2 tents set up in the rain. Wow, people are willing to wait in line for a long time to get a deal.

I did go out to get a few things, but my things are more practical and not really gifts.

I went to Home Depot and got some Pergo laminate flooring that I was planning on buying for a project next month. I checked the prices and they were selling it for 1/2 price. So, my $450 project just went to $225. And they had it in the store and they were not sold out.

Later I decided to go to Pep Boys and get some oil deals. I got some Castrol GTX, Castrol Edge and Peak synthetic for really great prices. And everything I wanted was there.

Not exactly anything real exciting, but I only spent a little time and I didn't have to fight the crowds of a Wal Mart or a Best Buy.

If you got anything on Black Friday post your finds here.

haha, funny you mention it. I saw 5 tents posted up outside of a Best Buy in Gainesville, Florida on Wednesday. kinda ridiculous if you ask me, but hey, I'm just a normal guy, haha. I think some of those people are nuts. I'm with you on the practical item purchasing, I definitely didn't do any gift shopping myself.

Saw a few good deals at Best Buy for remote alarm systems and they still have a deal for the Passport 9500/8500 radars that come with a free hardwire kit and suction cup window mount if you buy them at best buy. It is a better deal that buying on the passport site as they want an extra $50 for the hardwire and another $20 for just the suction cup mount!

I think the 42" Sharp TV 1080P for $199 was probably one of those deals people wanted at Best Buy.

I decided to go back and buy another batch of flooring from Home Depot later in the afternoon and no one had touched the the 1/2 price flooring, I guess it wasn't on anyones list.

I just got back from best buy. Ordered a 360 online and it was the holiday bundle go to the store to pick it up and it wasn't the bundle.. They didn't even have it! so after makin such a big fuss about not getting halo REACH, fable 3 and 3 months of xbox live. i got the manager to kick down a free copy of modern warfare 3. so for 214 bucks i got a new xbox 360 with 250 GB hard drive and MW3. happy black friday to myself!

I didn't do Black Friday. I always wanted to but I'd have to be in the mood/mindset for it. Also, I usually wait until days before the holidays (depending on which one) to buy anyone anything, so Black Friday always seemed like very early shopping to me!

I did take advantage of Cyber Monday though. I found a laptop over on Bestbuy's site, a Toshiba for under $300. It's nothing fancy but it will be a good and wanted gift.

Did anyone hear about the pharmacist who died at Target on Black Friday, and how people were just walking over him? It's stuff like that, that pisses me off. A deal's a deal, sure, but come on now.

Here is what I purchased online:

(on my credit card .. :ybrick: .. will pay off by new years)

1. Intel 160GB 320 Series SSD

Reason: need to upgrade my i5 production laptop to something faster
Normal price: $285 on sale everywhere
Purchased: $155 at Newegg.com (via $130 rebate), now sold out

Newegg.com - Intel 320 Series SSDSA2CW160G3K5 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

2. Klipsch Reference RW-12d 12" Subwoofer

Reason: My 5 year old Infinity sub does not sound right anymore and the amp makes a whine every time it powers on. Not sure what that means.
Normal price: $500 at Newegg or Amazon
Purchased: $299 at Newegg, now back at $499

Newegg.com - Klipsch Reference RW-12d 12" Powered Subwoofer Each

I hadn't heard about it by the news, but I found abougt it on-line. It is really said when things like this happen.

I did hear that sales went up 10% over from last year. My buying experience seem not too bad, maybe because some of the stores opened up at midnight. I stay away from Wal-Mart, Best Buy type stores. Now, I have to install a floor.:wow:
