Black grill and bumper

After being tired of the fading paint on my grill I decided it was time to get some paint on it. I went back and forth over to repaint the same silver color, or go black. I think the black looks great, but the bumper looked out of place so it got painted also.

I also cut some of the fins out of the grill for a slightly different look.

I will have to get a better picture, it started raining while bolting it back up.

How much did it cost you to get your bumper done? Was it chrome before?

I debated going black or desert dune for my bumpers. I went dune but went with a black grill too.

I think it looks way better. I am not a fan of chrome.

The bumper was painted a silver color from the factory, I gave it a light sanding, and a $4 can of spray paint. On the lower plastic section used plastic specific paint.


The black looks so much better, I should have done this years ago.

I now just need to do the back bumper to match.

It was worth the little bit of effort, and should be easy to touch up if needed.

I just don't understand why the bumper weren't black to start with, all other trim on my model is black.

His was actually a painted bumper from the factory. These were on the base models for (96-98), you can tell from his black mirrors.

Painting your chrome bumper will be more work. It is worth it to get rid of the chrome though, I agree with you.
