Black interior trim?

My truck is black and I've been thinking about getting the door inserts and dash pieces done in gloss black on mine lately.

Its one of those things where I think I want to give it to a automotive painter and have them do a professional job. Probably would hold up better than anything out of a rattle can. But its not high on my list of things to do so who knows.

Well, I bought some duplicolor (supposedly :flipoff perfect match Titanium metallic paint to repaint that area (which is supposedly the color of the trim. Happy with how the painting turned out, but the color match is horrendous (unless I was misinformed). I guess I'm letting clear cure overnight and then I'll buff it and see if that makes it any better. If not, I'm pulling this stupid silver trim and painting it all black. I'm tired of the headaches it's causing me. Pics to come.

The center dash/radio bezel is a bit melted around the vent,

Just curious, how did it get melted? Did the heat coming from the vent really get hot enough to melt plastic??

Well, I did repaint, used some rustoleum plastic paint, was a decent match, a lot glossier than originally, so I may redo the rest, as I like it, so there's an update.

As to how it melted: I'm not really sure. My best guess is during the winter, with the heat on sun degrees, I had a febreeze vent clip, and it was either pushed against the trim when it was hot, or the clip got heated while against it. So I believe it was the clip and not the vent.

So far, with my paint, it's holding up really well, and I think it's probably the best spray job I've ever done. I learned virtuous patience, and I am no longer a pupil, but a spray paint sensei now. The clear came out really well, too. So I'm very impressed with myself, lol.

That clip on was the only chemical item near my vent, and showed signs the next day, so I NEW :hippie:what did it.

Mine not as bad as yours and just fowled the paint around the trim area.
