Black Ops II out today

The only annoying part with running pistol only is that it depends on your other teammates to take out aircraft. If they aren't doing that you have to switch it up or you will likely lose.

Actually I've got an amazing tip regarding this. The majority of my team mates (myself included) are crazy about shooting down air support. It's like a competition on who can take out that hard earned chopper the fastest and break that poor enemies heart.

Well, I learned and shared with them yesterday that Black Hats can be used to destroy just about all enemy killstreaks. Just point it up at a UAV and let it "hack" and boom, it's gone. So much easier to use in cover. You can use it to take out or hack all other things like Betties, Sentries, Guardians, etc... And who doesn't love stealing and booby trapping care packages? Got one yesterday, was one of the highlights of my night :). The range on these things is incredible, so you can actually throw your care package off the map or somewhere guys can't get to it and used your black hat to retrieve it. Couple it with engineer and you can actually use it to hack equipment through walls. Now if the killstreak has flare protection, it takes mutliple black hats to bring it down (same amount of missiles it would take), but a full team running these is downright deadly. Also Tactition wildcard gives you two and I'm pretty sure scavenger replaces them. It's truly an amazing piece of equipment. Hope it helps!

Just noticed that you rock Blind Eye and Cold Blooded on your class, so if you're still doing your part to shoot down air support, you're the type of guy I want to play with. Good on ya man!

I may have to get a black hat build going then... for those annoying games where the other team seems to have air support or sentries every 3 seconds.

 I do whatever gives us the best chance to win. I ended up playing against an old friend lastnight and didn't realize it was him. I was in Standoff sniping anyone that approached the B node (and then rocking anyone that approached my perch - was one of my better games for sure). He msg'd me on facebook b!tching about me camping him... I told him to stay away from B. lol

Yeah, I LOVE getting what I call "fan mail" for doing my job and guarding my flag.

Alright, so I added Engineer/Black Hat to my Vector setup since I was working on leveling that, and wow - you can really rack up some points. I wasn't really having much luck through walls but was nailing enemy care package deliveries from across the map, took out UAVs, choppers, sentries, etc. I decided to run it in capture the flag on two maps that tend to be a bit tricky for different reasons (Carrier and Hijacked) and did pretty well. Thanks for the tip.

Glad it helped man. Yeah I'm really enjoying that equipment a lot. I'm slow getting to most UAV's and my team mates' rockets seem to beat me about 60% of the time, but I'm still able to nail them at better angles then they are.

As for the wall hacks, I did a few last night where they were setting up sentry guns to guard flags and I'd just peak out to where I knew where they were at, aim my Black Hat at it and tuck just behind cover and it was working just fine. Maybe didn't have engineer on that class. Been hacking betties and claymores a lot. It's just a really useful peace of equipment. I do miss being able to chuck flashbangs and stuns though.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Carrier... Ugh, freakin' snipers. They're the bane of all us "Run and Gun" guys.

Yep and then you feel obligated to hunt them down and shoot them in the face just so they see it in the replay. Haha...

On the flip side, half the fun of sniping is messing with people trying to do the same thing to me. The KAP-40 keeps me going most of the time.

I'm glutton for punishment... entered prestige 3 today. I sat maxed out at 2 for a few days and decided to do it again. I'll probably stop at 3 though. :nerd:

I've prestiged, but in retrospect, I'm starting to wish I hadn't. The extra class is cool and all, but not at the price it cost me in these early ranks because it overwrites the first default loadout with scorpion, C4, smoke, ghost and scavenger which is one of my favorite classes to start out with. I still find myself turning to the default AR class with the M27 and flak jacket all the time when the sledding get's rough. At least I've still got that as a go to.

I perma-unlocked ghost, but I miss flak jacket and black hat way too much. Ugh, I think I'm stopping here. I've never been a fan of prestiging anyway, but I thought it might be different in this game. Oh well.

Update:

Prestige 1/Level 22
K/D Ratio 1.28
SPM 295
Win %87

I feel like the game has been running a little better since this past weekends' patch, but I realize now that it's the revamped "skill based" matchmaking that has caused the most "struggle". We haven't been losing any matches, but every single one has been a fight. We're constantly pitted against full clans with equal skill so every game I've got to pull up my "tryhard pants" which is just exhausting because it doesn't leave any time to goof around. I enjoy competitive matches sprinkled in here and there, but geez...

Yeah I never prestiged before this game either. It's not fun for the first 40 levels and then the last 15 go by really fast it seems. You really can get outclassed in certain situations by people that haven't taken the leap. I finally got black hat back last night. I wish we could reset my permanent unlocks each time we prestige.

I played with preist/Tex a while yesterday and we had a good run but last night was awful. My K/D is still <1 but I win more often than not. I just keep pushing the objectives.

I was wondering about this too... is there some game balancing behind the scenes. It seems like spawn points, care packages, and even dps get quite generous when one side is far behind in scoring. I'm not sure if it's just coincidence or my imagination, but watch next time a game seems seriously out of hand.

You guys still at it?

I was screwing around today and came across an awesome setup: MK 48 + FMJ + Suppressor + Variable Zoom scope. I never would have thought to actually use a scope on a LMG, but it is a ton of fun.

You're a better man than I bofa... I gave up on this game a LONG time ago. Went back to MW3, even though I loathed that game through it's entire life cycle. But BO2 helped me appreciate it so much more.

I did talk myself into firing it up last week and giving it another shot to see what it was like after the last patch... That lasted 2 games and I was back to MW3.

I'm 0 for 4 on Treyarch titles. COD3 was awful. Bought WaW and went back to COD4. Bought BO and went back to MW2. Bought BO2 and went back to MW3. I tried to love this game, honestly. I told myself I wasn't gonna buy another Treyarch title and got around it by trading in a ton of old games for this one. Fail...

But yeah, as far as LMG's in that game go, I've found myself getting booty pounded a few times by guys with thermals, and target finders and millimeter scanners before. It's a stout combination. I got a teammate that will roll FMJ with a target finder or MMS and sit on B flag like on Highjacked and just blast people through walls. And because he's on "B", he gets "defend" points for every kill, so his point streak runs up like crazy and at the end of the game, he'll have like 30 defends... Quite funny.

Hope you enjoy it more than I did man. I bought NFS Most Wanted to supplement and got bored of it really quick (damn POlice!). I'm thinking I'm gonna go get a used copy of Forza 4. I need to get back into the driving sims some more. I'm burnt out on shooters. Although, my cousin did give me a glowing endorsement for Far Cry 3, so I might have to check that out.

I'm surprised I'm still engaged tbh. MW3 didn't keep my attention this long and I had much better spots and paths in that game. There is a lot of total BS in this game but every once in a while I get in my groove and I think that's what keeps me in it. That and the fact that I'm trying to keep my mind occupied while awaiting other real life crap to come along... I hate waiting for stuff.

I've done thermal and target finders with the various guns and the LMG with scope is just much more powerful. Because of the zoom and specific accuracy of the reticule, it makes it much easier to take people out, especially snipers. FMJ means if I just see a slight shadow or barrel sticking out, I can punch the wall from a safe distance. On maps I used to loathe I can watch half the field like a sniper and lay down lead like an assault rifle. It's also a bit better in CQC since you don't need to switch weapons. What's funny is, since my post above, I came across no less than 6 other people running that setup yesterday... lol. Then it's just a matter of being faster with the trigger.

There are still things that are totally absurd to be. I can shoot at someone 3 times with the BSG point blank, target red, and it won't hit them once, but if I sway it when they walk by it knocks them on their ass in 1 shot. I also hate how respawn points often decide the outcome of the games.

I have a few fun (and seemingly nonsense) loadouts that I use a lot now just because they make me giggle. If you want, I'll post them up and you can give it another shot.

Thanks man, but I think I'm done. I don't think that I could force myself to make a game fun that simply isn't fun to me. My team mates all feel mutually about the game. We're much happier in an Infinity Ward game. Heck, I'd love to fire MW2 back up and play TBH. I'd be there in a heartbeat. I just don't know what to expect if I pick it up. Last time we played COD4 it was hacked all to shit.

I think what bothers me the most is the fact that they tried to code it so "rusher" friendly, which I'm fine with, because I'm a rusher, but it's to the point where it ruins the game by creating an artificial "lag". I think somebody proved it on a split screen (so no lag), that if one player is moving (like say around a corner) and the other is sitting there aimed down sites waiting for the guy to round the corner, the code actually will show the stationary guy to the moving guy first, if that makes any sense. I understand why they did it. It's to give the guy a better chance at a fair fight, but what actually happens is it swings the gunfight too far to the opposite side. That's why in real time it seems like the guy is shooting you before he rounds the corner and you insta-die, but you watch the kill cam, and you're standing there like an idiot while the guy has time to aim in and kill you. If I'm set up properly, trained on a choke point, behind cover, I should win that gun fight 98 times out of 100. Not in BO2. I'm lucky to win a gunfight that I've controlled the engagement in this game, and to me, that is wrong. Like I said before, I'm man enough to admit and been around COD enough to know when I've flat out been clearly outplayed... But the deaths I get in this game... they're just pure flat out bullshit.

really this game is still buggy a hell which is why i just play borderlands 2 alot of the time instead, lol. but always get dragged back even though mw3 was far more fun than BLOPS 2

Yep, all valid points. And I can't tell you how many times I've been shot from around corners... so frustrating.

It's also irritating that you have so many people joining and not actually playing for the XP and I can't really find any way to report that in game like some MMOs. I've had so many 6 on 4 matches, which are somewhat manageable, but in S&D there are no second chances. I had a Cap the Flag match last week where we had 2 players for the first few minutes and they 3 capped. So then most of them had crazy killstreaks for the second round and we never had a chance. Lame

I believe they did the thing your alluding to so camping is not rewarded. How many times are you on a kill streak running around playing your ass off and then get killed by a camper? Most frustrating thing. I get that it is less realistic but if it were totally realistic a lot of things would have to be changed. Just one of those things you have to take with a grain of salt. If it works for you, it works. If not then I guess the title isn't worth playing.

I personally don't get on often enough to stay positive in my K/D and so I play less since when I play it isn't fun.

At the same time though, they encourage camping, drop-shotting, and jumping because that's how many of these guys obtain the higher killstreaks, save the occasional team full of newbs or lucky care package. Very few true run and gun players live long enough to get more than a handful of kills each time.
