Black out headlights and tails

Has anyone tried using Night Shades on headlights for their runner? i have a 97 sr5 and the headlights are glass... will it work on them? does anyone have pics of theirs? ive seen the amber lenses in the bumper done but would like to see the rest done before i try it.

I have a dark green runner.... heres a pic of the front, opinions are valued so throw out what you think if i should black em out.

That is going to decrease your light output, and it is illegal. Find a better way.

I agrre with others,don't do the headlights since for the reasons above plus it's very '80s looking. Rears go all out but remember some municipalities do require them to still reflect red when light is shined on them so don't go too dark.

From your posts on this board I deduce you have some spare cash and are itching to spend it - if you really want to spend the money on the 4runner, use the money wisely, do some maintenance work. Buy a haynes manual and some oil, learn how to change the engine oil, transfer case, tranny and diff fluids, and do it all yourself! You'll feel satisfied that you've accomplished something necessary and useful on your ride!

For the record, i'm a no for both the tails and the headlights, but its your ride.

X2. That's exactly what I am going to do this winter. Then I'll get some black aftermarket taillights too.

You could use Lamin-X film on them if you just wanted to tint them a little. Just keep in mind that any film is going to decrease your light output.

Yeah I won't say it again cause it's been said alot already but using that stuff on your headlights is gonna look bad. Plus it's venerable to sand blasting, bug blasting, etc. It's gonna be super hard to maintain. Not only that but the stock headlights are bad enough for seeing anything

X2 on opening the headlight up and painting it. If you do that you should do a retrofit too and it will give you some superb light output

I appreciate the encouragement. I am very familiar with and do all my own work already. I build motors and fix cars all the time, mainly jeeps and mustangs. Lol the 4runner scene is new to me so I'm tryin to feel all that out still. Its a no-go on the black out. I think imma order a clear set for the front and do the HIDs with LED corners etc... Then comes a new poly set of bushings for everything and full fluid swaps etc etc... Ill keep posted on here and am refraining from a "build thread" cause I haven't decided on a suspension lift yet and how big I want it. Or on rims and tires... so well see what I decide and move on. I can't even decide if I wanna paint it green again or go black. Or something else entirely. Hahaha keep up the opinions and advice.

I've done all my lights(except headlights) with nightshades- 3 coats, looks great imo. As everyone else has said don't do the headlights lol.. If you want pics of mine pm and I'll email em to you.
