black paint and water spots?

I'm about to purchase a new SE V8 but I can't decided on the color. I would the black but I don't know how well it would resist water spots. I had to repaint the hood of my black acura cl due to water spots.
Does anyone regret getting the black?

This is my fourth black vehicle, so I would have to say no. As long as you keep a good coat of wax on it, it should be fine. If you are not into cleaning your car often, I would advise against getting a black or dark 4Runner.

I regret it when it gets dirty and when the scratches show when I wash it, but all other times I wouldn't change it...

I have always had black cars so I am used to it... You can't go wrong with the color as the 4runner looks good in all colors.

i agree that black is very hard to take care of.....water spots, scratches, swirls......but i enjoy detailing my cars. if you are the type of person that is too busy, you have a couple options. you can still go ahead and buy a black vehicle, and then get it detailed by a professional twice a year to keep it looking great, or just go with an easy color to care for like silver or white.

Seriously do yourself a favor and go buy a Mr Clean Autodry from your local auto parts store. It's from the makers of PUR home water filters, and it filters and deionizes the water coming from the hose and completely eliminates water spots.

You still have to deal with scratches showing up easily as well as the car looking dirty from even the lightest coat of dust, but it's all worth it when it's cleaned up, and the Autodry system makes the cleanup quite a bit easier.

I would completly disagree, I own a Mr. Clean AutoDry, and it really dosnt work that well at all. I get ten times better results useing a good quality carwash.

Are you rinsing thoroughly with the deionized water cycle?

I've been on plenty of message board, even ones specifically dedicated to detailing, and the only people I've ever heard say they still get spots with Mr Clean are those who either

-Don't rinse thoroughly with the non-deionized and then follow by a thorough deionized rinse cycle
-Have a positively terrible water supply
-Aren't cleaning their cars thoroughly.

What do you mean by a good quality car wash? The quality of car wash soap has almost no affect at all in how likely a car is to spot after being dried. The only solution is to wash outside of direct sunlight and dry ASAP.

My thoughts exactly, the dual bed deionizer is the best part of the Autodry system. Even when I wash with the common bucket of soap I can rinse with the deionized water from the Autodry system to prevent water spots; this is especially usefull in hot and dry places like Southern Calif.

He was worried about waterspots. Autodry helps waterspots.

If a guy is worried about protecting his paint from UV rays should be not discuss various brands of wax and their UV shielding properties in that thread?
