Black paint help

I've been reading though some of the threads on polishes and clay bars.
Here is what I have to deal with. I did some wheeling with a group of people yesterday and got some nice pin stripping on both sides of my 4runner (been trying to avoid it for as long as possible but yesterday was the day).
Most of the pin stripping seems to be to the clear coat but there are a few deeper ones (not to the metal though).
What would be a good polish to help with this? I don't have access to any power tools so it has to be applied by hand and I'm in an apartment complex.
Is that nu-finish stuff any good?
Should I use a clay bar before hand?

if its more than through the clear coat you are going to have to have that professionally taken care of.

Having a Porter Cable handy would make your life 1000times easier if you decide to work on this by yourself.

find a medium cut compounder and start with that....then you will probably need a good polish, then sealant and finally a wax.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!!!

but ya... it got the point that the only compound i found useful well is.....turtlewax rubbing compound HEAVY DUTY CLEANER

it gets rid of the scratches even the DEEP ones BUT it does come with a price... it addes A LOT OF SWIRLS on your car, i used this because well i was to lazy to wash my car before driving to school so the mud dried... and people at school not know any knowledge of writing in dry mud on a car... basically is like using sandpaper on your paint... they decided it would be funny to write and draw inappropriate stuff into my car... i got the words and drawings out which is a very good thing ^_^ but like i said above the price is i got A LOT OF SWIRLS so now im going to buy the UDM polishing machine in probably a week? and try to buff and polish the swirls away hopefully... ill give you a update if i get the machine and take a before and aftershot if i remember.. or have a camera on hand hope this helps

again using that heavy duty cleaner WILL get your scratches out but WILL ALSO LEAVE A LOT OF SWIRLS UNLESS YOU HAVE A REALLY REALLY GOOD BUFFER MACHINE TO GET IT RID OF THE SWIRLS

use the compound, then use a swirl remover/polish to remove the light swirls then cover with a sealant and then finally wax
