Black Runner--Don't you guys use Polish?

So typically when I wax, I use the following method:

1) wash and dry
2) wax cleaner
3) Polish
4) Wax

Now I notice people Wash, Clay, and wax?

what about the Wax cleaner? Does this do a better job then the clay bar?


And how about the polish?

I don\t have the option of ordering Zano, no time and I go on vacation in 10 days, so what is my best option?

Mine's black & here's my system:
1) clay bar--Only takes about 20 minutes & makes it smooth as silk
2) Meguiars No 9 swirl remover. I've got a DA polisher, but you can do it by hand, just takes some elbow grease.
3) Meguiars TechWax

There's a lot of ways to do it, but this turns out great & only requires 2 application steps.

For whenever you wax next time, I have noticed that the clay bar worked much better at getting off grime than other cleaners ive used. Before you clay a car it will feel almost rough but after the paint feels smooth. Ive moved on to zaino products after seeing them here and havent looked back.

A word or warning though. Atleast for me it takes a LONG time to do the process with their system. When i initally start with zaino i did as they suggested and washed the car with dawn, clayed the car, washed the car with their wash, then moved on to the various polishes in the system. The 4runner looks great when its done but it could easily take me 2 days if i do a thorough job.

As for the polish vs wax.... I think Zaino uses the term polish for their prodcuts and they work like a wax so take that how you will.

I don't think so. Polish and wax are not the same. They work differently. You use polish to remove light scratches and swirls. You use wax to bring out the shine and protect the paint.

Pure polish will offer no protection for the paint. Some have abrasives to "cut" the paint and remove imperfections while others just add depht and shine. There are some polishes that contain cleaners to prep the surface for wax and sealant.

Wax offers protection and adds to the shine.

Unless you use specialty products then they are essentially the same. Most polishes have protective qualities and most waxes have cleaning qualities. If you prefer the hair splitting approach of one product with one purpose I can understand and suspect you would get better results. But chances are if you can pick it up at Walmart, Autozone, or Target, it has both cleaning and protective properties.

I would really like it if someone volunteered to wash, wax, polish my rig.

Current routine @ do it yourself car wash:
pre-soak
power wash
scrub brush (only wheels)
spot free rinse
Drive really fast on the highway to dry!

Black is such a sweet color, you can only see all of the scratches and chips when it's clean!!!

Next time, pick up some stuff called Turtle Wax ICE. Its a clear liquid wax. Basically, you wipe it on and wipe it off. It won't leave a residue and dries clear. It takes me about an hour to wash and put this stuff on. You can use it on everything on the car including the molding. I swear by it now, and am anal about my cars. It will take out all of the swirls, and even covers up any scratches even on black. It actually takes away the pin striping that you get wheeling in the brush/trees.

One bottle usually lasts me about a year and I have three vehicles. This is my old 4runner, and you would be shocked at how well it works on black vehicles.

This is after a full day of wheeling in Moab.
