Blacked Out Headlights Installed

I just installed my new headlights. The inside has been blacked out including the amber lense. I also installed stealth turn signal bulbs, the bulb is completely silver but lights up amber.

If anyone is interested in doing this, t4r.org member Bowtie3 does an awsome job. He painted the inside of a pair of headlights for an 06-08 4runner and sent them to me. After installing them I sent back my old headlights so he could repeat this service for others. He did an amazing job, they look perfect. It was $150 including shipping both ways. This was perfect for me because I couldnt afford to not have a car for 2 or 3 days waiting for the paint and sealant to dry. It took under an hour for me to install. If anyone is interested in this I would highly recommend doing it this way.

Sorry for the pics, I will get some better ones in the next couple days. Let me know what you think

Holy crap those look good on a white 4R!!!

Glad I could help you out. Looks good.

Thanks, everything worked perfectly. I wouldn't have need able to do it without you. Thanks again.

Dude, those look sick. I've PM'd with Bowtie about this. He agreed to hook me up, but I gotta save up some money first. He definitely has some skill, did a hell of a job.

wow that looks real nice man... What did you do to get it black? U used tints to cover up the headlight?

I painted the chrome part INSIDE the headlight. It's not hard once you do a few of them it gets pretty easy. Really all you do is put the headlight in the oven and cook em....then you rip em apart....LOL

When I have time later I'll find a wirte up and post it.

can you go a shade lighter on those though? or is it the picture that makes them look so dark? that looks great on a white runner [which is what i have] and would like to get them done. i would want the ones i already have on my car done instead of doing swap however since i have the clear bra installed.

Black is Black. I have to make sure the light is coated well or the chrome shines through. Send me a set of lights and I'll paint em for you. Does not have to be black....White maybe???....I dunno.

do you only do '06+ headlights? Or 03-05's as well?

Never tried those...Might have to take a look at them. Probably could not do a swap since buying a set of those for one set of lights may not be good money wise.

I love those blacked out lights. I have a dark blue T4R and I think the chrome looks gaudy. Probably would look even better with a body colored grill. Please do post a writeup.

Those look great dheeter. Bowtie3 did a great job. I wonder what those would look like on Salsa Red? I can't stand the orange in the headlights and I'm thinking of going colored grill, black chrome badges on the front and back(removing sides), powdercoating my SE top and lower bars so they aren't the gray color and doing an anthracite on the stock wheels as I love the style.

Also, forgot to ask...are they gloss black or satin/flat black on the inside of the lights(I'm sure Bowtie3 can answer this too)? Got any pics in the sun? Wondering how they will hold up in the winter time after breaking the seal of the light. Sometimes it takes the smallest hole to have them fog up(used to doing it with Audi lights).

dheeter...what bulbs did you use exactly for the turn signals. The ones you can buy at local Kragen, Autozone, etc.? Your 4Runner looks great

I use a satin black. I put a bead of clear silicone around the lens and the housing before i put them back in the oven. I try and get good run-off of the slicone when i squish them back together. No problems with them here in AZ...It does get cold....but not for long so no real cold testing...LOL
