And still get charged $200 on top of the like $300-400 that they cost? No thanks. I am not paying $600 for black headlights.
You can get them on Ebay for $100 a piece, so that's $200 plus the $150 for the blackout charge puts you at around $350.. not sure where your getting $600.

Or maybe you could send him your stock headlights(once you get that blacked out ones) to cut down on the price a little

lights

i got mine off ebay> 103.00 a piece brand new oem. shipping is extra-19. hell, for 350 its worth it. ive payed at least that for store bought lights for the other cars ive had. ive also heard about fogging on some of the cheaper knockoffs guys are selling. but of course its up to you.

Cant tell you how I did it.....Thats a trade secret.

Nah....You put them in the oven for a few and rip them apart....Take off everything you dont want to paint then paint em.
Reverse the order to put them back together. I still have to find the write up I used awhile ago...It was some good info.....

And the towel I just got lucky with....LOL IT's from Hawaii...I hated that place....LOL(Shop Towel)

Wow...your the first person I ever heard say they hated Hawaii. Next time you are in town, give me a holler and we will do this thing right.

Don't you have to do some taping off of some parts of the lights? Like the low beam and the turn signal area so those aren't painted. Those don't all come apart.

I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts on the black on red. Wish I could see it first. Of course the wifey thinks the chrome looks "fine", but thinks black with colored grill and rear black emblems would be neat too. Of course THEN I'd have to Anthracite the wheels as those would be the only "bright" item on the truck. Orrrrrrr....just keep it like it is in the front and rear, lift and bigger tires and call it a day.

Just need to find a good, cheap powdercoater to do my top bars and step bars.

Once you pry apart the light from the oven, you take the light apart still. I dont have a pic of the chrome part before paint. But, this is it painted.....

And this is it with the clear piece back in. I also have to take this out.....It's not a fast process....LOL

So you use a primer before the satin? Do you use a clear on the satin or just let it go? I would think if you used a clear it might yellow from the heat.

No primer and no clear. I use gloves so i dont get any fingerprints on the chrome so they turn out nice(Learned that the hard way on my Tacoma...LOL)

The glue on them really makes it tough. But I hate to remove it because the more you have the better....LOL What I do is get it as flat as you can before you put the light in......Sometimes it takes a few cooks to get it in there clean.

Well they look great!!! You do a damn good job. Hopefully someone will do them on red so I can see what they look like.

I'm thinking I may give up my space in line tho as there are other things I need to get before winter (ie weathertech and clear bra which isn't cheap). Plus...the woman is nagging me to keep the chrome theme with the lights, grill, and emblems as she thinks it makes the red "pop" more. Which she has a good point. I guess I can always keep it this way for now, then when I get bored (I'm thinking about the time I get new tires and lift) black everything out. I'm thinking a sport grill will always be available for order and you'll be caught up with all the requests for painted lights by then! :)

Thats cool...I'll be around. I'll see if someone will make a photoshop pic of your color and the lights so you have a better idea....Let me know when you want em!!!(Cause you will want them...LOL)

wen i pry my glass apart, my gloves caught some glue and i somehow got it on the glass too, so it was kinda bad, i use the artic clean, the computer cpu cleaner and it worked well, not best.

Cool...thanks man. I'll see if another guy I know will do a PS of it too. But as of this afternoon ALL my mods may be put on hold for a while. It's never good when you hear they might shut one of your projects down. While I'm working on other projects, land development isn't exactly the safest of fields to be working in right now. Especially in CA.

And yes...I'm sure I will want them! HAHA Damn mod bug!
