Blacked Out Headlights On White 4Runner

Bought these headlights off ebay awhile ago with plans of putting HID projectors.

The right one needs to be resealed because of moisture problems.

Figured I would put them in real quick to see if I liked the blacked out lights on White.

What do you guys think?

i was thinking about doing this in white.

Even before i read about it here. Then get clear tail lights and do same to match but woudl need to find a cheap set for the rear to modify first to see what it looks like.


IS there a right up on how to do this?

I have to take them apart because one has bad moisture problems..if you breathe near it, it fogs up. I have to fix this before I put the HIDs in.

I was thinking of putting a coat of dark metalic grey on them to lighten them up a little bit.

As for the rears, I think I read the stock one are very hard to get apart, maybe aftermarkey would be easie though.

Here's a 2005 Tacoma with a white headlight to give you an idea of what it might look like on a 4R.

The link with the Tacoma I posted above, the owner tried to take apart the tail lights. From what he was able accomplish, it doesn't appear to me the tail lights can be opened up without visible damage. I think the clear lens on the tail lights is molded (stronger bond) together with the rest of the housing, unlike headlights with the silicone glue (weaker bond) that holds the lens and housing together.
