Blind Spot Mirrors?

I have been doing more highway driving and I would like to add to my current mirrors to compensate for the 'blind spots' on my 4R. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

I've had blind spot mirrors on all my cars since I was 15. An ever lasting habit handed down to me from my father. I even put them on rentals when on vacation. Feel like I'm driving impaired without them on now.

Mine has a 2" round blind spot on the driver's mirror when i bought it, I've been meaning to get another for the passenger's mirror.

One of the first things I'll do to a new to me car is add 2" round blind spot mirrors. I was able to pick up an adjustable pair for around $5-$10 at an auto parts store for my 4runner when I got it. I use them daily, makes a real difference instead of just turning your head.

My first car was a Ranger, I had an elk hit it's head and take off my driver's side mirror one time while driving out hunting early morning. The main mirror was completely smashed but the 2" mirror was still good, I was able to duct tape it to the stub of the side mirror until I could get a replacement.

Adjust the left side mirror by placing your head on the drivers window. Adjust mirror until you can see the side of the vehicle.

Move your head to the center of the vehicle. Now adjust the passenger mirror until you can see the side of the vehicle.

Adjust rear view mirror to center.

Once on the road driving, fine tune the side mirrors.

This removes blind spots. Cars seen in the rear view mirror are out of your blind spot. Cars seen in your side mirrors are in your blind spots and will get hit on lane changes.

I have done this for years, as has my son, and it has saved me innumerable times.

yea, something like this. i've never needed them. i keep my mirrors facing pretty far out and i look over my shoulder when i change lanes. blind spot mirrors are a crutch and a distraction for me. they take up too much space on the side mirror.

100% agreed. I honestly never believed that it would actually be so effective until I actually did it. Now I don't know how I ever used to have my vision be so narrow.

Not sure about the head on the window thing, but I completely concur with a properly adjusted mirror. It's awkward until you get used to the offset angle, but I've adjusted my left mirror so that it picks up where the rearview ends. So for instance, as the left headlight starts to disappear from the rearview mirror it becomes visible on the side mirror. So I'll have one head light and half the grill in the rear view, and the other half of the grill and headlight in the side mirror. Just as the car disappears from my side mirror it shows up in my periphery vision. And with my mirrors properly adjusted I don't get blinded anymore by headlights in them either.

yea the 2 inch blind spot mirrors work, also add a clip on rear view with a bigger size. i always add the Broadway 300mm size over the factory rear view. having an increase in size help. i have gone through a big one that was 400mm, that thing you can see the whole rear tailgate glass right in your face.

So i read posts that the OEM RAV4 mirrors will snap right into place on the 5th Generation.. Is there something comparable for the 4th gen?

I am sure there are replacement European Aspherical Mirror glass... but have not found anything yet..

Any leads? p.s. i'm NOT sticking a geriatric 2" round mirror on the glass.
