Blocked heater ducts? Low air flow.

Yesterday morning everything worked fine but when I got in to go home at night, there was barely any air coming out of the vents. The flow would change from floor, to dash, to defrost like it should but even with the fan on high it was barely blowing. I verified that the fan was working in each speed. The cabin filter is pretty new. I removed it to visually check for fan operation and with the filter and filter frame out the air started blowing normally through the vents again. It’s been below freezing but there is no ice/snow packed on top of the cowl intake. Could it be blocked inside possibly?

Maybe this is your problem - does not take much water to freeze and cause the problem.

Thanks for the tip! I think this is what it was. Early in the morning at zero degrees it wouldn't work but by the afternoon it would be ok again. So I sealed up the duct housing around the motor and then stuck the motor in the oven at 200° to dry it out and so far so good.
