i got my Sc now and was wondering if a Blow off vavle would work on the SC. any pro and cons about it, beside having a nice psssshh sound. have anyone even done this?

not on a roots blower.
BOVs are used to divert back surge away from the compressor on a turbo or centrifugal supercharger, so that it doesnt force itself back through the compressor, which will slow down or stop the compressor wheel from turning, increasing lag (with a turbo) and possibly damaging the compressor wheel.
In a roots blower, that backed-up boost can only stay trapped between the blower and the TB and put load on the blower and the engine, forcing it to work harder. It can't force itself back through, or damage the "screws" in the blower.
Some roots blowers have an internal bypass which keeps the load off the screws and decreases parasitic loss when you're cruising at low RPM and dont need the blower.
You could probably rig something up if you just want the sound, but it's hardly worth the effort, and turbo guys will laugh at you

right on The Dude. hahaha, all my friends with turbo charged supra and nsx will laugh, but i will get the last laugh when they are stuck in a snow storm in Tahoe.
but i have emailed Gadet. he said it cant be done. i can add a liquid to air intercooler tho.

If you have a link to a specific setup I would love to see it. Roots style blowers are diffectly bolted to the Cylinder head/intake manifold. To install a water to air intercooler would require alot of hood clearance to fit it in there. I have never heard of someone designing one for the 3VZ or 5VZ. I have a water to air intercooler on my Celica alltrac, but it is turbocharged not supercharged.

Hehe, it wont be just the turbo guys laughing, more like most of the population! Blow off valves sound ridiculous. They make the engine sound like something is broken rather than 'high' performance. Let the acceleration do the showing off, not some lame hiss of air...
I don't know how his blower is set up, but some factory supercharged cars with IC's use an air/water setup that's integral to the intake manifold. The I/C sits down inside the intake, down in the valley, with a remote mounted heat exchanger.00t4rlimited said:

RonMAIDEN - i have friends that are crazy about snowboarding. weather up in Tahoe has its own mind. the sun can be out in the morning and a few hours later its a blizard blowing through. so they end up getting stuck in the storm.
techno - i really dont care who laughs at me. You should listen to a nice high end blow off valve. its music to my ears. i am not talking about those cheap one that the cheap/broke racer guy buy. i just wanted to throw this question in the air to see if anyone has done it to their 4runner. i wouldnt think anyone would laugh, they would prolly be more amazed of how you installed it.
its good for others, if someone else wanted to do this all they have to do is a "search" to find the answer.

I certainly appreciate a well setup, high peformance machine, but even though I'm not a fan of the sound a bov makes, I know what it is and what it does and I respect that. Its the fake ones that just do the sound that really amuse me. Superficial wanna-be accessories are definately not my thing.
