Blower Fan Resistor

In the 2nd from highest fan speed the fan runs at a slow speed. I"m thinking it's a blower fan resistor...does this sound right? And also where is the resistor located on a 1990 4door V6?

Yes, that's usually the cause.
I think it's mounted in a duct by the blower motor. 2 screws hold it in.

The Hanes manual doesn't have anything on this and I can't seem to find any info on this or any other forum....what am I looking for? Will it just be a block with a wire harness on each end? Or is there more I should know before opening up the dash and going to buy parts at the Stealer.

Ok, I found the reisitor and replaced it..but the problem still wasn't solved. I even tried another resistor...but same thing happens. What else could it be? The switch?

Are you sure you found the right thing?
It's not typically an actual resistor, it's small coils of wire (1 for ea speed) in a little module inserted in an air duct (down near the blower motor on 2nd gen p/u's & 1st gen Runner's), not in the dash.

It looks a little different than the ones in the 80's trucks, but that looks about right.

If replacing it didn't correct the problem, may be it's the switch itself. Usually when the module goes, one of the coils (resistors) opens and that speed doesn't work at all.

Must be the switch itself then.
I thought it had to be the resistor b/c it works in that switch position...but just not at the right speed.
