Blower Fan Rust

Was hearing a slight hum at low speeds when I had the air on. I figured a leaf or something slipped past the filter. Blower was mostly clean but had a significant amount of rust. There anything else I should check if that’s happening?

I have a bad noise as well. Gets louder with higher fan speeds. Going to pull mine out tomorrow to check it.

As a follow up I pulled my blower motor today to check it as well. Mine looks similar to yours as far as the rust goes.

I watched This Video and it touches on some of the common issues with blower motors. I believe the issue with mine and possibly some of yours is a bad bearing. My noise is only noticeable at lower power but I'm sure that is still the issue. Because the cost of replacement is greater than the annoyance I get from the sound Im going to hold off on replacing for the moment.
