Blown headgasket on 95 4 runner

My wifes 4 runner started blowing smoke (it smelled like burn coolant) out the exhaust. I stopped driving immediately and was told it was a blown head gasket. On a toyota forum I was told that 4 runners up until 95 (certain) vin number had a recall on head gaskets and you could get it fixed from Toyota for free. Any info on this would greatly be appreciated.:thanks:

There was a service campaign, but IIRC the campaign ended over 10yrs ago. I think it was a one time thing Toyota did the 3VZ (3.0 V6) owners. Call and check with your dealer about the service campaign.

i just dealt with this issue 3 weeks ago. i called the toyota repair shop appleway toyota in Spokane washington, gave them the VIN and they looked it up, said it hadnt been done yet and they told me that they would still do the recall for the head gasket and the steering arm... er whatever is wrong down there. whenever i could brought it into them. think the guys name was ray jones... *shrug* could be wrong.
