Blown Serpentine Belt!

Just has a new belt put in 2months ago on my 2003 V6 Limited 4runner (114000 km) and the belt just blew apart! Took it back to the dealer and was replaced free of charge. Any body heard of this happening before? No components siezed (ie. water pump, alternator, etc).

belts don't blow, they break It could have been a faulty belt, or the belt might not have been lined up/installed properly. The dealer should be able to tell you why it broke.

If you dont have the belt they probably wont be able to tell you what happened to it but it seems likely they put it on one rib off on one of the pulleys. Easy mistake to make but a good tech always checks his work.
