A couple weeks ago I did a snow run with some friends and we had some deep show along the way. I made it through everything just fine but when I went to tug the truck behind me that was stuck I had a lot of grinding noise from what sounded like the front differential. Later, after getting some help I found the noise had vanished which was quite odd. I found that with the CDL unlocked I had not gear engagement at all, just like I was in neutral. When the CDL is locked I get power to the front and rear with the VSC lights on. I was able to drive off the mountain slipping and sliding all the way but made it out just fine (even if it was them 3am)
My research indicates I snapped the hub that holds AWD mode. Is anyone familiar with that issue? I'm still driving it as all seems fine for what I'm left with but it also sounds like I have to replace the t-case. I have a spare with a bad actuator but I understand I have to take the t-case apart to put my good actuator in and replace the case. Not my ideal situation but such is like when you wheel.
