Continuing on with my black friday shopping spree I decided today that I needed to finally pull the trigger on a set of Maxtrax boards. I have had difficulty lately finding black ones. The maxtrax site is out of them and most other places I have looked are as well. I found them on ebay from an Australia company but it was about $100 shipping. So I looked on the dealer list on the maxtrax site and saw there was a only two Texas dealers listed, and only one near Houston, where I am. The dealer is actually in Spring, where I was raised, and about 10 minutes from my house now. The company's name was Blueline Expedition Outfitters. Never heard of it.
So I went to their site and voila, they had black. I started my order but then thought to myself that maybe this was one of those accept-your-money-while-you-wait-forever-on-backorder things. So I wanted to confirm they actually had them, and could I come get them instead of shipping them. I went on over to the facebook and looked them up and found them easily. Funny enough I had already "liked" their page at some point (never heard of them, huh?). I sent them a message asking if they actually had them in stock. I was answered right away. The gentleman I was speaking with said yes. About the shipping though, he said they have to ship. They are looking forward to opening a retail storefront in 2017, for now all they have is the work shop, where they apparently build / outfit overland and offroad vehicles. So that was fine. I'll ship them.
Oops, he messaged me back, someone bought their last pair as we were speaking. No way. But I checked, sure enough, it was taking them out of my cart and not letting me put them back in. Someone snagged the last black pair. Did I want another color he asked, he has them all but black. No. I want black. He told me I could pre-order to get the current discount or he could let me know when he got more, etc. I was ok with that, I'm not in a big hurry. But I asked how sure he was he'd get black, after all, maxtrax does not even have them. He was sure he'd get black.
I was resolved to just pre-order and get the black ones whenever they came in but get my discount now. But then he messaged me back again. Keep in mind that a) this is after work hours and b) he said at some point he was on the road not in Spring a the shop. Probably off adventuring somewhere. Anyway, he messaged me back and said he had sourced more black ones and could hook me up right away. Really? This guy went out of his way to hook me up knowing that I was pre-ordering anyway and he had already made the sale or whatever. So I messaged with him while I was filling out my info on his site and he said he'd let me know the tracking as soon as they went out.
So that was a long story, with little point, except to say that the customer service I have experienced already with this new(ish) company in my backyard was outstanding and I would encourage y'all to take a spin through his site and check it out, and next time your shopping maybe give him a chance. He is very responsive and helpful on the facebook too.

Oh. and I finally did ask who I was talking to. His name is John Lynn, Owner / Operator of Blueline Expedition Outfitters.
Always nice to give a good experience with a business, especially a new local business.
