Bluetooth head unit

I have an Alpine UTE 42BT installed in an 2003 4Runner (previously stock non-JBL audio system) that does pretty much what I want it to i.e. Bluetooth handsfree and (limited) compatibility with my Galaxy 5, but I can't dim the thing down enough for night driving. The source button is blinding at night and the dimmer maybe dims it down 10% at best. Its hooked up correctly.

I'd like to find a BT/USB/Aux deck that a) can dim down, ideally to null, and b) interfaces better with my Galaxy 5.

My budget is around $200. Suggestions?

I have a basic single din pioneer HU with BT and all that shnazz. on full brightness in white, its a perfect balance between daytime brightness and dim enough at night. not too distracting IMO.

if anything, try whatever is in your budget off amazon. if its too bright, just return it (Free shipping there and back)

Is the dimmer and "on/off" affair or can you scale it down? I like to dim it way down on long night drives, which is often.

Here is the manual, it looks like you are stuck. It only allows auto or manual control, so I don't think you can adjust it on the unit.
