Body Lift.......1" or 2"?

Ok hear is the deal.......I bought a 1" BL from 4crawler and i'm having buyer's remorse. I'm starting to think I should have went 2". My specs are in the sig and right now I'm sitting at about 43.5" ground to fender in the rear but I removed the spare so there's a half inch gap or so between the body and frame already and I'm just not sure 1" is enough. I know people have done the 2" BL without issues so I'm kind of leaning that way.

I'm not going to lie, part of the reason for the BL is for looks but I want to retire the runner as a DD soon and make it purely offroad pretty soon.

So? Thoughts? Opinions? Am I over thinking this?

Thanks guys

Id stick with the 1". I had a 2" and I didn't like the big gap, even though I used rubber to cover it. IMO It just looks tacky to have your frame rails look so low.

I had 2", and then about 2 years into it, I couldn't stand it anymore and took it off completely.

If you plan on offroading it, you'll want to be LOW as possible!! I had a tall rig and had a great time, but it was tippy, and I had sweaty palms in a lot of places I shouldn't have. Having a low rig is so much better when offroading... and its just better in general for driving, etc...

I would stick to a 1". But thats my opinion. Been there done that... Also when/if you get bumpers you'll have to get them custom built to the body lift.

1" also allows you to access a lot of things very easily... 2 off the top of my mind is the rear shock mounts and also the starter. I took the starter out in about 20 minutes with my body lift.... (of course I had a 2", but 1" should be plenty)

Also if you go with the 1.5", you will effectively gain 2" of gap between the body and the frame because of the 1/2" of gap to begin with. So in essence it's like you got a 2" of BL.

I also run 1.5's on mine.

Just wondering what kind of setup do you have for your roof top light bar....

should be fine with a 1'' your 4runner is big and clears the 35's really nicely .... also let me know if you still want those sliders lol need to sell something my car is broken

For looks I would say do whatever you want as per the BL. But if your planning on turning it into a offroad rig, have you thought about doing some cutting to make the 35's fit better and leaving the suspension/lift as-is?

Just another outlook. I know when I go 35's and my truck becomes my trail rig, I would rather keep the center of gravity as low as possible as it will already be quite tall with the 35's. The trails less traveled 96 4Runner did a great job of clearancing the wheel wells for bigger tires and you can't even tell it's been cut up. I believe "Chaplain" also did something similar for his rear long travel setup.

Some general 35 clearance ideas (for a Tacoma, but its pretty much the same for us...)

Taking the wifey to Sunriver for a few days for her bday so funds are short for a second. You take VISA? lol :thumb3:

Went with 2".. I have no issues. I got some 1/4" rubber and cut them in the shapes of the stock rubber that covers the engine in the fender wells. I made them a bit larger to compensate for the new height cus the original ones all ripped. As for the back, yea there is a gap but who cares. I figure 35' will cover it up well (when I get to that point). I do however like the flex I get with the 33s.
