Body Lift Comparisons?

I'm going to purchase a 1" BL in conjunction with my tank swap (and other projects), and aside from a few installation threads, I can't find any product comparisons.

Are all BLs created equal? Is one vendor's offering superior in some way to another?

Looking for some advice here, and I appreciate it in advance

Probably are some differences. Seems good to have aircraft strength quality bolts/nuts is a plus. I'm sure the quality of the rubber can vary but haven't heard of problems with any of them in the longer run.

Then there is the front bumper (if sticking with stock), not all kits come with the adjustment bracket so you may have to buy that separate. :cowboy:

4Crawler's kits are superior, just based on that fact that you get to choose exactly what you want, and only have to buy what you need, they also offer any bracket you may need where other companies don't.

I got the tried 'n true 4Crawler variety for the 1" on my 2nd gen. I've never liked body lifts, but I didn't want to cut my hood to fit the 3.4, so I took the easy route.
I would recommend Roger's stuff for sure, but I don't have anything to compare it to.

That'll be cool to tuck the tank up a hair more though.
Or maybe better to not, because we're already raising our COG by ditching the low tank- on our already-top-heavy rigs... food for thought. I know; it's only 1".

- that inch also helps on fuel filler routing from what I've seen (not a concern for me) and with the clocking of the TC and removal of the crossmembers for a flat belly (my primary goal.)

- then I'll see about lowering the entire thing a touch, hoping the overall CoG is improved, actually - more of a frame drop than a body lift... maybe get the front axles a bit more horizontal and more useful range out of the IFS?

Well, pulled the trigger on the 4crawler kit, and added poly body mounts as well.

So my 4crawler kit came in last Thursday. It includes poly body mounts (including the B pillar mounts that the '96 didn't get from the factory), the spacer blocks, steering rag joint extension, metric hardware, bumper relocating brackets, and radiator relocating brackets:

All in all, a pretty nice kit - but the repurposed Energy Suspension rear mount brackets are kinda hokey at this price point, IMO.

I will end up reusing the factory hardware on the A&C pillar mounts, so as to retain the locking tabs on the bolts - look like their lengths are just fine.

I also had to use a considerable amount of heat to free the bolts on the rear mount on the driver's side - will replace the factory hardware in both of these mounts.

I'll also need to do a minor pull on the radiator core support up front to get a good alignment with the frame mount on the driver's side - my truck was hit in that corner and it tweaked the core support

Lift pucks fabricated from material procured from McMaster-Carr as well as longer bolts. Steering spacer / bumper relocation fabricated from stuff I already had in the shop.
I pulled the lower portion of the radiator fan shroud but did not relocate the radiator.

Definitely a LOT of good info on that site. I'm going to go to a taco radiator and just bump the shroud down as well. (I can't have the radiator below the frame!)

Did you notice an increase in driveline noise inside the cabin after installing the poly body mount bushings?

I installed 4crawler's poly body mounts about a year after installing my body lift. Immediately noticed an increase in driveline whahwhahing noise. Everything else about them were great and I didn't experience any other down sides other than the noise. I think I would have been able to live with it but got old real quick when people would always ask if there's something wrong with my 4runner lol. So i put new oem rubber mounts in and the noise was gone. I've asked this before and don't think anyone else has experienced this. When I spoke with Roger he wasn't aware of any other cases like mine & thought it could be due to all the other poly parts I have collectively increasing the transfer of driveline noise but was very understanding and offered a refund.
