Body Lift Install Guide

Okay, so a few weeks back I asked for some input on a body lift. Well I finally preformed the install and thought I would share.

I have never done a write-up before so any input would be wonderful.

To start you have to remove the front bumper. It is pretty easy. There are bolts on top and 4 on the bottom and snaps all around the front fender well.

After you remove the front bumper you will want to go around the car and pull the carpet up in the 6 corners inside 2 in the trunk, 2 under the rear seats, 2 in the front right corners of front foot wells.

After you reveal all the body bolts on the interior of the car you will want to remove your washer fluid reservoir. The top breaks away with no bolts, and the bottom comes out with 3 bolts. Make sure to remove the wiring from the unit so you don't break your clips like I did.

After you get that removed you will want to loosen your radiator shroud. There are 3 bolts that hold this in place just loosen them so you can wiggle the shroud.
After you get all that done you are ready to loosen the body bolts. You want to do this one side at a time, after you get em all loosened you are going to remove either the passenger side or driver side bolts, (not both at the same time, you don't want the body to slip off the frame. ) After you get the bolts removed you will jack the side up use a 2x4 to distribute the weight under the body. Insert the spacers ONTOP of the body mounts. (so between rubber and body) then put the bolts through, after done lower jack and put the nuts on. Repeat on other side.

I ran into one problem with my ToyTech 1" body lift. My radiator fan hits my shroud. It is usable, I will need to order a radiator drop and install it asap though.
Make sure you get all the bolts good and tight!!! I will be adding my steering spacer this weekend. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the write-up.

I agree it is pretty easy, taking things apart and putting them back together is the most time consuming. The hardest part was the steering spacer by far for my 1.5BL, thats the good thing about the 1inBL don't need it.
Just a heads up for someone else, the toytec doesn't come with oversized hardware so if u go with oversized hardware from Roger Brown , you will have to drill a larger opening in the front body mounts

Thats interesting you fan hits the shroud for just a 1in, i've heard othesr not have that problem.

Toytech did not offer the HD hardware, But with a 1" I did not feel necessary.
Thats what I thought, but the fan hits I think it has ate away enough at the shroud so that it does not hit much (unless I flex)

I preferred the 1" over the 1.5, so there would be less of a gap in the bumper and around the overall body. I also noticed that it ripped all my inner mud guards, that snap in between the wheel well and motor. Did that also happen 2 u?

Maybe you would be fine if you just take a dremel and trim some more plastic where the fan hits instead of having to deal with ordering and installing the drop kit.

Problem is even when removing them, it is a pita to stretch them back into place and they wont stay since i broke all those black tabs. need to go get some more.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of my body gap that i have, i also broke the end tabs to the bumper so its doesn't sit flush with the fender.

Yeah also roger brown offers heavy duty hardware which i believe might require more drilling on the other body mounts holes, then the oversized. The regular hardware is fine with a 1in.

Great write up, I have heard a lot of people saying that it wasn't that hard of a job, but now I see it I'm thinking that maybe its something I can actually do. I'm bookmarking this page :hatsoff: haha Also do you have any before and after pics??? Would love to see some

Absolute the frame

I am doing a 1inch but I lift the frame with a 3 ton pump jack with about 10inches of block under it an the frame is not removing from the body am I missing something? thought there should be enough room., I noticed the only thing i didn't do was remove the spare tire. Its a 1 inch is it necessary to remove the bumper? I removed the washer fluid tank and all bolts on frame left one side loose and nuts on other.Guess I missed that important part
