Body lift or cut?

Hey everyone, its been awhile!

I just replaced my old 265/75/16 mast sport king AT's with 265/75/16 BFG AT KO's. I thought they would be pretty similar, but i'm rubbing much more with my BFG's backing up/turning sharp than the sport kings.

I'm deciding whether or not I want to cut or see if a 1" 4Crawler body lift or a 1" RB body lift will help with this. (the body lift is also a good excuse to add some more height, because I wish I went with the 3/2 CF instead of the 2/1.) :D Has anyone had any experience with these fixes for tire rubbing?

If I go with a body lift, looks like it will cost around $100. I'll have to look into installation to see if its something I can do on my own or if its worth taking it somewhere...any thoughts?

You'd probably want to tackle it yourself. I don't have any experience with it myself, but there was just recently a thread where someone mentioned getting and install quote of $600.

Oh wow, definitely not trying to spend $600 for install. Is it fairly simple to install yourself? I'm still looking for a writeup on it. Also, do you know if this will help much with rubbing?

Just time consuming to install. And you will want a 2nd set of hands.

I just bought one and will hopefully doin it this weekend from what ive read and seen its pretty easy just take your time and yea 600 is about the going rate for install

Thanks for the info. @wrestler, let me know how it goes this weekend!

It seems to be rubbing in front of the tires on the wheel well/beginning of the bumper. I'll have to do some more reading to see if the body lift will help :)

I ran the 17" version of that tire with about the same lift.

I was able to solve my rubbing problems by removing the mud flap and cutting a small triangle from the fender flare.

Thank you! After work, I'm going to have to go tinker in the driveway. I may just have to try this first. Thats the same spot I'm rubbing...hope this works!

I finished the install this weekend and it was so easy. The hardest part was the steering spacer but that didn't even take long. Me and a buddy did it in about 3 hours working slow making sure it was right

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it went smoothly. What size body lift did you end up getting? Got any pictures? :biggrin2:

I dont have any pics right now im working 12 hour days so ill try to snap one if i catch day light one day and i went with the 1.5"
