Body lift.......What are peoples opinion on them? good,bad?

I want to get a 1" body lift for a 97 sr5. does anyone have experience with body lifts or a opinion about getting one?

they work well with a 3" suspension lift if you want a little more clearance...
I had a 1" BL on a past 4runner with 33's they work fine, adds clearance... what is your question though? You just want a BL without a suspension lift?

I have a 4crawler 1.5" bl, the install is simple and it gives you a little more clearance...I think it a worthwhile mod

I for one have never been a fan of doing a Body lift. I have seen to many bad things happen when people use BL's but mostly they are using a 2 or 3" lift. Going to big on a BL increases the leverage on a bolt and in certain situations can cause the mounts/bolts to break and cab seperation from the frame. Now that being said I am thinking of getting a 4Crawler 1" to give just a little more clearance for my tires. I would not go any higher then a 1.5" but that is just my opinion.

I just put a 2" toytech bl on mine and i love it. it helps clear the tires alot better, allows for insane flew, and just lookes better overall. however i would not advise anything over 2" bl.

just wondering for a 1" bl, is the steering shaft extension and radiator drop brackets a must? im guessing the bumper brackets are if you don't want the gap in the front?

The steering shaft is only needed on '96s and early '97s because the shafts are shorter. If yours is mid '97+ then you can just loosen the clamp around the shaft and slide it down. I think it's a good thing but that one's up to you.

For a 1" BL (and maybe even a 1.5"), you can just remove the lower radiator shroud which is held on by clips and takes seconds to remove.

If you get a BL, keep in mind that if you plan on adding off road bumpers, you'll have to make mods to them (or order them custom like I did with my rear).. or put up with a gap. 4crawler sells brackets to lift the stock front bumper back up to the body, but it only works for '96-98 bumpers. You can call him and ask if he has started making them for '99+ bumpers yet. The rear stock bumper is connected to the body so you're good there.

Put your truck's specs in your sig. It helps us to answer questions like this because there are some things that are year and engine specific.
