Body lift with a manual Transmission - PICS REQUESTED

Hey gang,

Just finished replacing all of my suspension this past weekend and I am going to add a 1" body lift to clear 285s. I have read that often times when you use a body lift with a manual trans it becomes difficult to shift into 2nd and 4th. I have also read that you can simply notch out some plate that allows the for better travel of the shifter.

Two questions:

- Can someone send a picture of what they notched and how much? Does this require a fun disassembly of the shifter?

- Would this problem be solved with a short shift kit?

I doubt with a 1” you’re going to have any issues; but you can always take the boot off and check.

A short throw; depending on brand; might help out a bit.

A short shifter does raise the mechanism up an inch or two. That would be a really smart idea. I have had one from LCE for a few years and it’s awesome, I highly recommend it.

All I did was drill 4 holes in the 'under boot (the metal plate and rubber bellows) and moved it back about 1/2 inch. That provided all the clearance I needed for 2/4 gear. Then just put the soft boot back on top and done.

Thanks yall. It sounds like I can just move the plate down a little bit by drilling 4 new mounting holes. I still might install the short shift kit, though. URD has one that just popped back up in stock!
