Anyone?? I am also looking to install a body lift. I have 3" above spring spacers, 33" wheels, and I still have not hit my desired height appeal. I am thinking about 3" shocks now, but I have decided to go with the 1" body lift before I go with new shocks and springs.

My brother did his own and it was pretty easy from what he said. Of course he did have a lift to lift the body off the frame at work, but in general body lifts aren't bad. also, on the 4runner. He did mention you move the 3 bolts up on the bumper and use only the top 2 holes and it lines right up and has no gap for the bumpers. It's nothing you can't do with the right wrenches and a tall jack though.

I had some help with my 1" BL install, however it was done in the dark and I don't trust other people working on my truck so I basically re-did the entire install myself shortly after in my own driveway to make sure it was done right (found a few things that needed fixing by doing so).
It's easy to do alone, but having a second set of hands is recommended for your first time.
All you need is a floor jack, wood block, and the proper tools. The hardest part is the radiator relocation brackets unless you get a 1.5" BL which then requires a steering shaft spacer.

sweet. I will be doing it at a shop with my fiancé father. We replaced my transmission a few months back so I dont think this should be to difficult. The 1" kit I will be using has a steering spacer, so I will prob install it just to be safe since I flex my vehicle to the max every weekend. Your runner looks awesome btw!

I guess that came off a little harsh but I have never been one to sugar coat things. No one even knew who helped me before your rant so I obviously didn't mean to offend you. The two pucks under the front seats needed to be lifted and re-seated prior to re-torquing all of the bolts down again after they settled a bit. They were causing a loud pop/creak similar to the front seat "pop" TSB whenever the weight of the vehicle shifted. That wasn't even what I was referring to anyways, but you drew your own conclusions to rant about it. One of the issues was unrelated to the BL and had to do with some water entering the cabin during water crossings. THUS re-doing the steps led me to discover a beneficial fix that a shop would have missed. But you wouldn't know that because you're too busy playing internet bully.
I stood there with my thumb up my ass because I was being polite while you finished the project you started after I was already on the road. I should have said f*ck it and gone home to do at a later date but I waited patiently for hours and carried boxes of sh*t inside, all the while having rude gestures and remarks sent my way. Thanks again for the help. I was grateful then and I still am now, but don't play it off like you did all of the work. If you want to give someone that right give it to Todd. Three people did work that night.
I build my truck for looks, eh? You're either delusional or just trying to pick a fight because I wheel more than you do and have way more scars/scratches to prove it. I didn't build a mall crawler, despite what you try to influence people to believe. I love wrenching on my truck and switching things up or fixing issues that are irking me. I have many people to thank for help along the way including Mark, Jim and Blair for some of the bigger projects but a lot of the work was done alone in my driveway. I am very grateful and indebted to them, and try to pay it back whenever I can. I helped JIm install part of his his locker. Every mod has been done for a purpose, and almost all of them have served their function. The sliders and bumper have already paid for themselves close to a dozen times.
Seriously, mind your own business and get off my nuts. Take it to PM if you want to duke it out, I'm unsubscribing from this bullsh*t.

From someone who has done a body lift, all you need is a 4x4 about 12 inches long, a floor jack, a box wrench, a ratchet and an allen wrench. Make sure you loosen all the mounts for when you jack up one side. Only remove hardware one side at a time so you don't have the chance of the body slipping. I recommend the HD harware which will require you bore out the body mount holes with a half inch drill. If you do the 1.5 inch BL the steering spacer isn't that hard, just puts you in an uncomfortable postion when tightening the bolts and nuts. Also make sure to loosen the slip joint under the hood, it will make installing the steering spacer that much easier. after you have the BL installed you will need to oblong the rear bumper skin holes as well as the front to allow the front and rear bumper skins to relax keeping better spacing between panels. Good luck, it's easier than it sounds.

yea but who bags on someone saying they messed up work on there truck that someone was nice enough to do it for them (for free most likely) and then acts like they know exactly how to do the mod when someone else did it for them?
even if he didnt say who did it, he shouldnt have said anything in the first place but if he really was dying to say something he could have said some ppl did it for me and they did it really quickly... doesnt have to say yea they F*cked it up and i had to fix it, blah blah blah when i really didnt do sh*t the whole time they were working on it. if i was Drew i would be pissed too.

i have always been afraid of BL, really wish someone lived near me to help me do one.

You've seen the videos of how hard I play, I've never had any issues with the BL. It's never made noise, or loosened and it's never shifted. Plus the extra clearance you get from the BL to stuff in the fenders as well as better approach and departure angles is worth it. Some people stuff the front tires into the top of the fender and i'm sure you all know what i'm talking about when you hear the tires rubbing the top of the inner fenders under full compression. BL help alleviate that rubbing. 1.5 inches with HD hardware is really solid. I'm glad I did mine to clear the 305's. I would be concerned with a BL over 1.5 inches like a 3 inch, those are scary.

yea man i have always wondered why 4crawler doesnt make a 2'' that would be as high i would ever go... they have 3'' for 3rd gens... that looks like butt on the side... there is definitely too much frame rail showing with those

Do a 1.5 and call it a day. scroll up a few posts to show the tools I listed to do it. It's super easy I swear you could do it in your driveway.
