Boltz.' 4Runner Build.

Hi.

First thread, first post.

Just scooped a 2001, SR5, one owner, 180k on clock a week ago.

I'm a car guy plain and simple. This is my first truck/ute/suv.

My plan is to keep it super practical. Good for any conditions, super reliable, keep it decent on gas, ready at a moments notice to camp, hike, weekend trip. Would love to go mudding, out to the dunes and the bad lands.

As of now I plan on an LED light bar, Roof basket, separate winter and summer wheels/tires, reupholstered interior, cb, tablet, dual batteries, slight lift and storage for a bunch of gear inside the car.

I bought the 4runner because of the reliability, cargo space and roll down rear window for Jerry the Dog.

Had to take Jerry the Dog for a ride in his new whip. I pretty much bought this thing to tote him around. LOL

Here are some "AS IS" pics. Keep in mind she is 12 years old with 180k on the clock, and I've only owned it a week. :P

Pretty good right?

By armor do you mean like bumpers/skid plates? I'm tech savvy, but not yet used to 4WD/Off road lingo.

Yeah im jealous my dog only has the occasional fleas..

oh yeah sorry, bumpers, skids, sliders, all that heavy stuff

So on the way home from buying the 4runner, I stopped at the Weather Tech factory store in Bolingbrook, IL. VERY impressive facility btw. I got all the gear; front, rear and cargo digital fit mats and the wind/rain visors for the windows. I waited to get a detail to install them.

I brought the car to the detail shop that my brother and I started back in '07. Though I have a different day job now, I still love the Rush Group.

Nice truck. And you're gonna loooove those Blizzaks. Wish they made them in the size I need.

I'm excited to blast around with em. I'm used to WS50's on the evo and driving like a maniac in the snow, but the extra ground clearance will probably be amazing. Thanks for the compliment.

LOL!

I'd love to do a front bumper and winch. Skids depending on how crazy I get with offroading.

Sliders are side step replacements? I like my side steps right now, but if I need that ground clearance I'll ditch em.

The thing I have to keep in mind on this build is cost. Looks like a good bumper and winch is $1500 alone!

Oh and the next project - getting rid of the hideous steering wheel on a budget..........

We'll see what happens, I have something up my sleeve.

mine cost like 900 but no winch, yeah they replace the running boards, everyone that offroads either gets sliders or just takes them off to prevent damage-I shouldn't say everyone but most anyway, I haven't been offroading yet persoannly but will do once mine is ready

im into a bumper and winch for just over $1000, and thats brand new warn winch, and brand new ARB bumper... i doubt you will get that good of a deal, but shop around, keep an eye out online or in classified adds, their is nothing wrong with buying used -and i would go this route if it wasnt for the hook up that i got with my winch and bumper -and techinally i did get the winch used but it was completely 100% rebuilt and built to my needs by Warn. craigslist is your friend man

nice runner btw and i love the dog!

That's what I figured, but it is good to know! At the ride height the car is at, I think they look good. Once I go to a lift and summer tires I'll consider ditching them. Is there a market for them?

Your car looks really nice in your Avatar. Is that really an 02?
